Habitat and Sharing Kindness on share the love on Monday

what saraphina and I were in a entrepreneurial book club where Stephanie never read the right book and Stephanie was terrible at this book I really suck at book club I did not fabulous I'm what I just had a visual just had a visual proud of it it could probably add us to the stage I'm having one of those Mondays good Lord here we are happy Monday everybody full swing into May although it feels like um uh February out there I'm so over it I'm like so over it so in the studio with me we've got we've got studio audience waiting on deck which I'm really excited for Habitat for Humanity is going to be with us later on this morning and in front of you right now we have Kathleen shine O'Brien and also Dr Kim me Walters from Sharing kindness thank you so much for coming in again thank you thanks for having us yeah get right up to that microphone because I know you guys have a lot going on and May 18th is going to be here before we blink I can't even believe we're here already we can't either seriously now you've come into our studio before and we we connected at uh the seaside L mons of all places and loud car filled area and we're like we should talk um for your services specifically even some talking points uh and pointers that you've given out um so maybe introduce yourselves and your mission maybe and let everybody know if they've not seen you on my show what you do and what's going on absolutely so I'm uh Dr Kim mean Walters I'm the executive director at Sharing kindness uh we're a 501c3 nonprofit here on Cape and since um we've been working uh to fill gaps in services around um Su raising suicide awareness promoting mental mental health education and uh providing free peer grief support groups throughout the community and in our local schools amazing she said it all honestly it's one of those conversations that's very difficult I think for people to talk about without feeling uncomfortable a little to say it even with me promoting it talking about it I'm like come it'll be fun it's suicide awareness walk and it's it's one of those things that kind of gets a little deflated when you're trying to Rally people to come and talk about it or come and be with people for it we we agree completely and that's actually one of the points we usually make Stephanie yeah which is um it is an amazing event and we have built this is our seventh suicide awareness walk for the cap and Islands just an extraordinary Community last year we had more than 520 Walkers isn't that incredible we we have our moments we have our somber moments but we also have a lot of fun yeah um we get an opportunity to just share time with people we get an opportunity to hear the stories about their family members and one of the things that we always say uh at the walk is we know how your person died that's why you're here we want to know how they lived we want to know who they are we want to know what they loved we want to know their favorite movie or their favorite color want to know their favorite foods that's nice and it really starts to bring together this sense of community um and people don't feel so isolated and alone with what we all already know now is a stigmatized death yeah well and and changing the conversation just a little bit to be a conversation about that celebration of of their life is really it's a wondrous switch in your brain when you see it happen um and just I I follow please follow them on social media uh my family had gone through a really difficult time last year honestly some of your prompts and some of the things that you put out there I found really good to use as tools to just start a dialogue with someone and to be mindful about the things that I say when you don't think that you're saying the right thing so I'm very thankful for you for posting that thank you so much that's one of our goals is actually educating the general Community um about how to have a safe conversation around suicide or around grief around loss in general and also to to sort of uh debunk a lot of the myths that are very prevalent in our society both about suicide I think I'm kind of having a hard time with my mic here yeah just get a little closer um to debunk the myths about suicide and also to be able to have conversations just around grief uh and to Bunk those myths because there aren't five stages I hate to tell that to youall people think that they can go through the five stages and then they're done and it's over and of course we know that not should be true so it's really about educating across the board and across the lifespan about things that are really near and dear to our heart um coming up is Mother's Day and I feel like it's it's it's a trigger for a lot of people um there's this big celebration of the people in our lives that we have well what if you don't have those people in your lives uh I was in one of my girl group chats of my mom friends and one of our uh friends fathers passed and there was a lot of quietness in the group and another woman just reached out and said you know my dad passed 17 years ago and I'm still not over it and I'm still awkward to talk about it and I still I can't even go to a funeral I can't step in the door and like I can't be there for them because I don't know what to do I think that's probably what everybody feels like I don't know what to do and I don't know what to say and I think Kim and I have learned over the course of the years that most often we don't have to say anything just being able to sit with somebody and hold that space with them and help them tend to their grief in a very quiet and loving way is really one of the most beautiful experiences that two humans can share yeah it's amazing your work really impresses me just because I I don't know if I I could do it and be so mindful and caring as you guys really are talk about some of your grief groups because I know you guys really are reaching out into the community and going younger too we are going younger one of our newest initiatives is that we're doing school-based peer grief support we piloted it in Truro at Truro Central School and we're now doing one at Barnes United Elementary School I have to tell you Stephanie the wisdom that these children have despite their trauma and loss is stunning the way that they express themselves is so beautiful and so poignant but the hard part is they feel alone they feel isolated they feel different they don't want to talk about it with their friends they don't want to talk about it in school and so when we're sitting at this table and there are six to eight Elementary School students and they're looking around and they're saying you love somebody too you too and even as as a a school as small as tro Central that has a think student body of 90 that's such a cute school and it's a and I we just love the staff there Nancy Winslow has just been one of our biggest and greatest supporters but these little kids are sitting across the table and they said I didn't know you lost your dad I didn't know you lost your mom so even in small tiny pods and it happens in our communities as well yeah people don't know because they don't talk about it you've got young adult groups also we do we have older adult groups um we have one at sham Heights we have another one that we do at at our Hub in harwitch um and then everything in between suicide law Survivor groups for parents who have lost a child people that have lost a spouse or partner and we do one on net actually uh suicide law survivors and it could be any kind of relationship that that those folks they teesing me about me being busy uh how are you in all of these places good morning Cindy Emily Nate thank you for joining our show this morning we are joined by Suicide awareness walk uh organizers Dr Kim Kathleen and they're here just talking about their group Sharing kindness and they really do share kindness and at least point you in the right direction of where to find it I appreciate that we try so maybe talk about the walk a little bit because that's coming up and and uh it's I'm so excited to be a part of it this year we excited to have you because I just know it's such a huge outpouring of community in love it is so we're we're really excited to have you this year we're really excited for the seventh walk one of the most important things to know about the walk is that any funds raised stay here on the cap and Islands to support our shared uh community and um that's critical because we need that support and when it's folks with boots on the ground the way that we are we can direct those funds to where they're needed um we are so excited another program we've had going this year is Hope Squad this is an evidencebased school-based uh suicide prevention program and the walk will be led out by our five hope Squad uh teams of students and that's from fouth high school Barnstable High School Cape cot Tech in harch monoy high school and high school so they will they all have their they'll all have their t-shirts on so you'll be able to identify them readily well how important is that though to have that at all of the schools and have them come together and just show the support and love I I think that that's amazing I'm so glad that we're here having this conversation talking about it a decade ago that would not be so would not have happened yep yeah yep so super um excited about that we have about 30 resource tables and um these are folks um we have P flag we have I think three different veterans tables these are resources that represent the people at risk in our community our neighbors at risk and we have this shared vision and and and common uh Vision about what we want for both the cape and for our communities and so one of the things that that Kim and I pride ourselves on is our ability to partner with local other local nonprofits um so that nobody's Reinventing the wheel yeah that we share our resources we we both both from a Personnel standpoint and and from a financial standpoint so that we're really just good stewards well collaboration is the name of the game and I think it's so important I think with a space where we have so many nonprofits uh it's it's easy to get into the m and it's easier to remember that there are people that do this better we will just Outsource to you and we can share this it's fine and I want to share also that um our walk starts from Veterans Beach Park which is just a beautiful spot MH especially if it's sunny especially if it's sunny fingers crossed we can't guarantee everything we're we're overdue uh we dodged raindrops uh last year and the fog was so great the year before we couldn't even see the fairies hear them that's kind of fun though it was actually fun it adds an element to excitement um and it's a a great walk it's um on uh sidewalks three miles uh through hyenas including uh Main Street and we are um partnering our presenting sponsor this year is Cape cot Athletic Club just wonderful they are a wonderful group of people and on every corner and every Crossing um there will be two uh local high school students and two Cap Cod Athletic club members to make sure that everybody's safe um folks often get into conversation while they're walking and we want to make sure they walk oh yeah yeah uh that would be me where are we going oh yeah we're doing this and then we have a route when folks get back to the park um we have a closing mindfulness Circle um which with Gerard who's just wonderful and we're very fortunate this year um for folks who want to stay in the Park after the walk uh Mom and Pop's food truck and so good I know and Perry's Last Stand ice cream truck I mean what's better than a Juicy Hamburger and an ice cream to end a wonderful day right he walked it off you're good um let's see what else did I want to talk to you about because oh you've got a space we have a space that's huge right yeah so after a a number of years of moving in our bins in and out of our cars and rented and donated spaces um with lots of support from the community we can has been a huge supporter um of us our first bace we are now at 940 Main Street in South harch in a gorgeous space where we've been able to centralize a lot of our peer grief groups it's Works Space it's meeting space um and I know when we were here last uh we were looking and now we have a home well that's I looked over at Habitat for Humanity I'm like wait a minute they now have a home so this is going to roll right into our next discussion but um anything else that you want to say about the organization and and where people can find donate get involved if they're you know having a moment by the way 988 you can always call always if you need my name is Brian Richie and I'm the manager of the habitat deconstruction program H I am so pumped to have you guys here um I have partnered with habitat last year and I just love supporting what you guys do I think it's a number one issue on the cape is finding space finding a house we've been looking for a studio for three years we're continuing on looking and we'll eventually get there good morning Cindy uh and oh Thomas thanks for joining us on the show Erica Ruth Nate thank you hi and uh thank you for your patience with our pausing and swapping out our nonprofits I think it's amazing to highlight nonprofits here on the cap because we have tons of them and if you've got a nonprofit you want to talk about we love doing that on Mondays it's just one of the things that we talk about but habitat is always doing something your team of volunteers and people because our housing issue is mag just huge maybe you can talk a little bit about what you've got going on and then I want to talk to the deconstruction team yeah um so right now we have our um home ownership applications available um the deadline is next Monday to apply so we're going be raising walls and eight homes in the fall um there'll be four in Dennis and four in Wellfleet we'll kick it off with our home builders and remodelers of Cap Cod Blitz build the week of September 23rd where um one home is buil in one week for one family um it's an extraordinary um Act of um businesses and organizations and the Builder um Association coming together um and we will be raising walls in uh well well flate anticipated in October and the remaining three homes in Dennis anticipated in November so the application process um it is a long application um and yeah what if it's daunting for some people like what are some of the things that you should come prepared for when it's application season so um go to our website habitat C .org um and review the information on the website as eligibility um and um you can riew a sample application online and um like now is the time to reach out to our office um either applications at habitat capap cod. org or Maran at habitat.org to answer any questions to um create meetings with Maran to bring your application into review um because that a week is going to go by in a Flash and this application you're essentially applying for a formall mortgage um in a habitat um process so that means that you're going to be required to get you know pay stabs references job references it's it's a lot of information that we are requiring because and I'm not scaring you I just want you to come prepared so you know kind of what the process is so that you can prepare for yourself and make sure you're Crossing all the things that you need to check off your list of things to do because I mean it's getting a house it's committing to something uh when you're building for when you're buying from habitat you you you're in there's skin in the game you pH phally have to do things so that's what Brian says all the time so um you know these these perspective applicants and you know when they make it through the process and their future homeowners they do have skin in the game yeah so this application process um you know they need to have a need so they're going to write an essay why they need a home and they also um the application goes off of um the Barnell County area medium income guidelines so these individuals are in families going to be making less than 16 80% of them come get things um so they're going to it's a process they're going to complete the application they're going to submit it by next Monday uh we have a team of volunteers that review applications um so in this next time you know week they're going to be reaching out to people hey we need this hey we need that um so if um these applicants are you know meet those um guidelines then they move into the next pool of credit reviewing and if they move further along in the application process it goes to interviewing so we have um volunteers that go to their houses and interview them and then if they're qualified they get entered into pain can Habitat Humanity pain can um and I like it it's a great process yes yes we pull out of a painin so um you know each applicant that's qualified is assigned a paint chip so B1 B2 and we pull them out um and have volunteer scribes um write down the um order and we invite um representative from the town of wealthy and town of dentist to participate um because those are the towns we'll be building in um so those you know eight families that are going to be chosen then you know comes the hard process so they they're required SWAT Equity so they're putting 250 hours of SWAT Equity into the home per adult so some home you know households will have 500 hours they're building alongside volunteers sponsors Partners um at the build site and at our store um there you know these future homeowners are attending workshops um they are assigned family Partners they're volunteers that mentoring the process overwhelming that's why they do have you know contingency plans throughout the whole process checking in with you making sure you're not alone knowing what's going on that's a that's a key point there there's people there to help you in the process because be scared away I mean well what's more stressful being unhoused or having to go through this process I mean either way I mean at least at the end of this you're going to end up with a home that you had a paron building and it's going to last because that you're setting this program up for Success yes yes so the volunteer um Partners they're and mentoring these homeowners for a year during the build and then they stay on for another year after that so they can check with um the homeowners of you know how's it going you know is there something that came up that you need a resolution for um and not everybody's coming out of the womb with a hammer in their hands not everybody's quite good at that yes so we will teach you I mean the same applies to volunteers too so like if you're interested in volunteering a build site you don't need any knowledge we'll teach you how to hammer will teach you how to you know do what you need to do for the task of volunteering um but you know these um homeowners at the end of their bill they're going to formally apply to their affordable mortgage so um throughout this process they still you know they if they lose their job they need to get another one if something HS happens with a car braks they're not going to take a loan they're going to you know provide advice regarding that so um you know a skin in the game for them yeah for sure good morning Amina Sarah I adore Habitat for Humanity I by the office um fairly recently and um there was a woman there that had just finished paying off her mortgage and she stopped to bring you guys flowers and I just thought that that was just the sweetest thing on earth like it was just it was a moment that I got to witness as a total Outsider and it was just really just very cool how much you really change people's lives yeah I mean she is removed from the housing crisis crisis there's a cat oh sorry hope you're not allergic um love cats um yeah so she was you know anyone who's going through this process and um obtains one of these homes and has affordable mortgage so they you know once they have that mortgage they can you know take that promotion make more money where you know in other programs you know they can't take that promotion they're stuck in this continual cycle of never you know be able to get ahead um you know we love seeing home owners that are paying off their mortgage also homeowners that you know they've been in their house for a year or two they're taking their first vacation they're attending graduation of their kids they're quality of life like there was not there was a reason why I paired you together with Sharing kindness because I know being unhoused is probably one of the biggest problem we have on the cape and also one of the most stressful not being able to just know where you're going to be and feel safe and you look at the impact on the kids as well I mean the kids now have a stable home and location they know they're going to be there they know it's not going to be a change next month when they have to go somewhere else it's a huge positive to the kids as well talk about the deconstruction team because I know you do a lot of amazing things and if you're thinking about making some changes to your home and you've got these beautiful cabinets and you're like what am I going to do with them well we have a place for them well it's a new program we actually started it two years ago and it started kind of unusually we had a call from a high-end architect that said we're rebuilding a home in Truro and you can come in and take whatever you want so we went in and they had beautiful cabinets and appliances and we removed all these different things and uh kept it out of the landfill number one but number two more importantly uh we brought it to our restore where we sell slightly used items and we sold it at the restore I love the restore both of them uh in Falmouth and in um Yarmouth uh were their frequent frequently for things all kinds of things and so that program it went well that one example and then we found another example a month later so we decided let's build a program around it thing so we built the program so over the last two years we've removed 180 kitchens we have brought those kitchens uh and sold them at the restores for over $400,000 that all goes into more affordable housing uh and maybe more importantly we've kept over 420,000 pounds out of the landfill so important and that goes with our mission here at lemonade as we're branching our nonprofit for cultivating voices and choices and also for our Mash B Farmers Market we're really working on reducing reusing recycling keeping the resources that we have and I I so love your program I think it's so important and so it's worked out well we've done kitchen cabinets we'll now do bathrooms we do floors we do a variety of things doors and things like that that are being taken down so there's a lot of items can have a second life and rather than just throw them into the landfill someone else can buy them and get value out of them if they couldn't afford to buy new and the people that are donating get aack right off and so it's a win-win yeah for sure one of the interesting points we found is I thought that this would be an issue for the trades where we're taking food out of their mouths by we're taking out the kitchen and it's been totally the opposite yeah what the trades have done is said well this is great you can come in and do this get it all done and then we'll come in right behind you and put in the stuff right and so we get quite a few of our leads now from the trades oh absolutely cuz they're like oh that's going to take so much more time exactly and this just makes so much more sense and it helps more people so absolutely even Kelly says I love how you're helping people and recycling at the same time Kudos yeah that's great it's it's important uh Sarah you guys essentially gave my friend a kitchen at a price she could afford and I still have the fridge I got from Yarmouth when I bought my house oh that's super that's a great example right there yeah it's super right to be able to have a whole space and to be able to redo the things that are broken and to to afford it you're not breaking the bank or taking out loans and paying for things you can't afford so it's so important what your deconstruction team does and we are so thankful for it we recently donated my little clunker of a car well we made a couple of grand for Habitat so I was so excited about that I didn't think the thing was worth anything and they're like we sold it thank you here's the thing and I was like oh okay I did something so thank you Stephanie that was huge cars for home we're going to jump to cars for homes um but cars for homes we take non-running Vehicles so that could be like a snowbo beile boat car construction equipment RV um it doesn't have to run as long as you have the title we we'll take it yeah because well this is the spring I feel like everybody's moving stuff around seeing what they want to replace what they've got to fix what they're assessing in their yard we're never going to ride that boat again that thing's been on its last leg Yeah well this golf carts not going to run we got a lot of those in my neighborhood uh donate them so with cars for homes you're going want to go to our website habitat.org and you'll click the Donate button and there's a drop down for cars for homes um do not bring it to the RO store um here you go she's all yours yeah so go online please imagine uh and then you'll schedule uh you know with the um cars for home program they'll schedule a time for you to pick that up um from you and I'm just go to back to the Decon program it's a fully fully volunteer Le program so Brian's one of our volunteers he's been us with us for a while and they do a phenomenal job and we have so many Tes testimonials from not only residential um donors but commercial donors saying that they do a great job you know when they leave it's like fully cleaned and their you know their contractor for renovation or their Builder is coming in and you know right after these you know the contractors are excited about that they yes cuz they're so busy and they don't have the time this way it help helps them out and again it's a win-win for everybody yeah for sure how many volunteers do you need what are you looking for in volunteers I mean you must have a ton but always need more well you know it's we always need more we always are um you know having you know more opportunities with our raffle sales um which the shed for homes or $3,000 you could win and that runs um up until this I think Friday the 10th but you know we have volunteers that are selling raffle tickets at the store um we're going to be starting up our kayak raffle soon so we'll need help at different um Cap Cod festivals with um John and Pauline who make the kayak um we are so awesome like we have a lot of different opportunities so that family selections office team that ruse applications we we look for volunteers constantly for um the restores you know construction um construction you know right now we only have our Brewster build um but we'll definitely needing more volunteers for Dennis and well fet if you see the weight option that's don't worry please sign up for the wait list we cycle people out um because there's so many people that want to get on and if we leave it open for everyone John Smith is gonna take every single opportunity we don't want that we want to share the love um and speaking of the share the Love Actually this brings us into um a huge than out to Copeland Subaru they actually um chose us as a HomeTown charity sponsor and raised over $25,000 for us that's amazing um so it's amazing again Community um you know just awareness and and support to help us build more affordable homes I think it's also important to mention that yes you've got a lot of programs you've got a lot of Outreach you've got a lot of things that you're raising money for houses are not cheap you know this you know the materials to put them together are not cheap and each house how much Manpower actually goes into one build right that's that's a great question I don't think anyone knows that right it's a stat that I think that you should let people know and find out as you're doing this because I it's it's huge huge it's so much it's hundred people it's well we had uh yeah if you go back to uh just this past Saturday we had 25 Volunteers in the Brewster I had a team of about four or five people they're up there and they're doing shingling and there's some people that have never done it before we showed them how to do it it's very simple the nice thing about the volunteering as Sandra's pointing out you don't need any skills we have so many different things that need to be done that we can line you up with something that comfortable with yet you'll get the Fulfillment and the value out of providing and giving that people feel when they do those Co to learn a new skill anyway I mean it might be nice to do it for yourself every once in a while or feel like you know you could do it well sit standing next to me was one of the future homeowners in rooster and we were teaching her how to shingle yeah and then the next day she's learning how to do some things on the floors yeah and she was all excited by that because she said I know how to maintain my house now right once I move into my house but that it it really is empowering someone I mean I know when I learn a new skill I'm like oh good I can do it for myself but I don't have to bother 12 people and I can get in there and get it done Dave hagner I know you're a big volunteer for Habitat thank you and good morning Sarah good morning Dave how are you he's awesome H Dave's awesome um all of our volunteers are are awesome um but you know if construction is not for you that's okay like we have other things that you could help with like events so we have our upcoming golf tournament next month where we have volunteers you know sit on one of the holes and witness if there's a hole in run and you know we have different ways to have people volunteer it's you know you have to have an open mind we also have people that hey you know this is what should you know I think it should be great so we have a volunteer named Jack he made us these um home sponsor signs that are little houses and stuff but that came from him so um sometimes it whatever your contribution is right right yeah call Sandra she'll make it work yes we try we try um I mean we have people who you know cook at events for us so it's you know you we we ask you what your skill set is and we try to line it up as best as possible um but going back to the C the house the CES the houses of the house the cost of the house rather yeah um yeah cannot talk Monday hello um so the houses cost well over 350,000 to build and that doesn't include the land so we rely heavily on volunteer labor the support of community sponsors donors um and finding land it is our biggest challenge and in Brewster it's an extraordinary Act of generosity and kindness um Beth Finch she um leaves in Brewster it's goingon to be the new neighbor for um these two homes that we're building and she had just over just shy of an acre and quarter and subdivided her lot into three lots so she kept one for herself and doing two lots to Habitat um to home so she made it possible to build and Bruce her um so that's just an extraordinary yes and then you have you know our you know Partners like Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club they made a substantial donation as a major fun to the project you have Cam appliances they donate all the like five appliances for the heart of the home on all habits at homes that's huge they do a lot over there they're culinary incubator they're always figuring out ways to help the community appreciate support So immensely and then we have Fraser construction that does all the roofing labor on our houses so I mean to ask about man hours that's it's it's hard because you have all the support coming in like from Shepley exactly Shepley you've got all of the things you've got Whitewood kitchens in uh sandwich that provide the cabinets I mean there's a lot of different companies that particip well and I want this for people that are out there right now wondering what they could do our our construction workers our landscapers or our maybe Community we have companies that are always looking for Community projects you offer that as well wonderful thing yeah for like a team building day we team building groups exactly so we'll do that all the time that's where you know we had Ocean Edge come in we had a variety of different groups that have come in and a bunch that have coming in in May to help with the two houses in Brewster as well yeah U the Church of the Holy Spirit in Orleans they're one of the home sponsors for one of the homes in Brer and um you know they're coming um to do a team day um and they're a major as well so I mean we just have all these support in the community you know we try to do our best to get you know everyone on site um but I mean with Dennis and wey coming up there's more opportunity for that support um and and just as a point to add to uh we talked about the two houses in Brewster in the case of Dennis and in the case of Wellfleet those both are going to be fourouse developments so there's eight homes there are being built and there's quite a bit of uh additional activity coming down the road after those two build so needed homes yeah big time so Yarmouth which has up to six homes um that's off of Wood Street and Mean Street um so that's hopefully in the next year or two um you have um Falmouth there will be four homes be behind the Falmouth restore and then another project that would be collaboration with it's prary but up to 13 homes um in north fouth um you guys don't even get a chance to sit back and enjoy the work the fruits of your labor you're like next busy busy is go busy you want to mention the sandwich donation of money for land oh of course uh I mean I'm sure everyone knows the Kat family have heard of them before um but they made a significant donation last year to for us to find land um in Sandwich so if you know someone or you know you know of someone that has you know land that they're not using definitely have them contact us because we have um you know definitely a search for Landon sandwich and um not to forget we have two home and Mar's Mills in the next few years coming as um so that I mean I think that pretty much covers you crushed it today I mean I got things we got to do we've got the ride also and then the cars so mention the cars because the classic car thing looks kind of really cool it's coming up this weekend my gosh so it was it's really cool that Cap Cod British car company came a car club not company came to us and said hey we want to um you know help with event to help raise funds to build more affordable H houses for you guys so um they are bringing 25 to 30 classic and modern British cars to the FMA 3 store this Saturday it's gonna be really neat from 12:33 there's G to be a 5050 raffle there's G to be a contest for Bon car um you know it's just going to be a blast there's going to be Pizza free pizza um there's going to be other vendors there so come on down um you know cross fingers for it's rain or shine it is going to be nice this weekend beautiful it's Mother's Day we're not having it mother say no bring bring the families out it's a family friend fun event um kids will like it moms will like it dads will like it um and also on Thursday in the Falmouth area actually the fouth Housing Partnership um they're presenting a form on housing from uh 8:30 to 10:30 in the morning this Thursday at the F Town Hall so um definitely stop by Beth way trar office will be speaking um it's definitely a latent conversation and um we always appreciate everyone's support regardless of what area you live in on the cape um and then we have our ride for homes coming up on September 15th um it's going to be a fun event we have our be uh barbecue ice cream um it's a ride a walk and a run now so um if you're interested in riding we have 12 20 and 40 mile routes if you're walking you can choose your route along the canal it is not time it's not a race it's a ride it's a walk it's a run enjoy um there'll be music it's just a fun time on the canal um at atics um I always mess that name up um sorry Trading Post um where it starts and ends so it's a grand old time September 15th Sunday um we're looking to get more sponsors and participants to come out and support us where's all my Ruck for hit people we survived worse than that you could do this ride you've got this um and we're always looking for speaking opportunities so if your organization or Club business wants us to come talk and more about hitsa Community please let us know and we can come out and speak to you and that's it we did that uh not that long ago we had a speaking engagement with the Barnstable newcomers group oh very nice and it's about 40 to 50 people lot of questions lot of uh exchange of information and ideas ended up being a great time for everybody good I'm glad and you guys have a Open Table to uh come and hang out with us at the mashby farmers market this summer we're going to be starting uh May May 26 all the way through October 13th so one of these Sundays we'll we'll see habitat out there and you'll be uh recruiting for volunteers and funds that would be great they'll be there with open arms it would be nice thank you guys so much for stopping by and keeping us up to date with everything that's going on you're always
