what saraphina and I were in a entrepreneurial book club where Stephanie never read the right book and Stephanie was terrible at this book I really Su je book CL I did not fabulous I'm what I just had a visual just had a visual proud of it well hello and good morning it's a little late for us this morning but we're here nonetheless good morning I've got Mike I've got Sam with me inspiration is everywhere thank you so much for joining me today thank you grab your microphone and put it in your face okay I you guys have we've been trying to connect for a long time first off yeah yes we know we're a little late it's a little tardy this morning it's Friday what do you want from us school vacation week is starting and my kids have been mentally on vacation since Christmas yeah my son did not want to go to we have yeah we have not picked up the vibe of it's time to go again well there's snow on the ground there was a lot that happened this week and you guys are working with a community that is outside sometimes yeah that is homeless not sometimes all the time yeah and this time of year when it gets to where it is right now it's super scary so Sam you started this organization and maybe just talk about what it is that inspiration is everywhere does and uh what drove you to be inspired to start this nonprofit all right um so right now currently inspiration is everywhere our main mission is to fill in gaps of assistance in the community so there are a lot of people that fall between the cracks of other services uh Falmouth and Cape Cod at large has a lot of organizations and services directed towards helping people there are a lot of really great organizations out there um but there are some people who don't quite qualify for certain Services especially State and federally funded Services um because of their restrictions or because of you know it's like when you don't qualify for food stamps because you make 14 cents too much in your paycheck there are it's brutal yeah there are ways that people fall through the cracks and Falmouth uh specifically for me growing up here I've always noticed that it's a community where people are more connected than they think like everybody knows a guy who knows a guy who's got a cousin Kayla says you're all doing amazing things so much appreciated good morning Joanna thanks for joining us midday movie Madness on 90.7 wkkl thank you very much for checking in with us and what's up Josh we've got Sam and we've got Mike here and they're talking about inspiration is everywhere FMA specifically and how you guys are filling in the gaps yeah so we do we serve the Ken Islands um it's not just fouth because I like to you know inspiration is everywhere it's all over the community and the community is larger than just fouth um so I started with art shows um because I was raised on this recycle art philosophy with my grandmother that nothing is trash nothing is garbage you can use materials to make something new and brand new and beautiful and look at your world creatively you can you don't have to just accept situ Super Fan of upcycling things I think it's super important to use what we already have and what's made out there already yeah so you can use you know that kind of mindset uh with the rest of your life not just with art supplies and teach people but you know when you feel broken or worthless or you feel like garbage your Situation's like garbage you can take those broken pieces and you can still make something new and beautiful and unique and amazing with a little bit of creativity and a little bit of help from your community so the art shows morphed into this community outreach by teaching people that so it was art shows with different categories of recycle art by local artists and then we started bringing clothing donations to the art shows because we had a lot of people out on the street just looking for something free to do to be inside to stay warm and it sort of evolved from there and we noticed that you know between our personal networks and our friends that there are always people to reach out to when someone needs help and can't find it anywhere else and it could be the most ridiculous of things that you're you know thinking of or needing and it's it's an issue Boston says good morning sefue good morning and good morning thanks for joining us yeah Mike how did you get involved in all of this because all of a sudden you're like I'm involved now I can't not um wellike I met Sam through Mike Mike and red um that lived at my house and unfortunately our from Mike just passed um but I walked in my house one day and there was this crazy chick in my living room with a crazy van in my yard and I said what do you do and she said well I I sell things made out of Styrofoam when I drive around the country and um I just thought she was amazing from the day I first laid eyes on her I've never met anybody like her and when I found out what her gig was and what she was really doing I was inspired by and I think this was pre- inspiration even you were just getting right at the beginnings of getting it 501c3 certified and official I was at the beginning of opening my home studio back then yeah well I I already had it opened so I had a little bit of a space and I'm like well if you're collecting donations you we can bring them here we can put them in the back room I got involved that way and then um Sam had me go on a mission to Boston uh giving out clothes to the homeless uh and that was life-changing when I went there I mean we all know about the homeless you all know they're out there but they're nameless and they're faceless I was in their face I met the people I talked to the people and we gave out clothes and they came out of the woodwork and it was the most horrendously hard physical day ever but I never felt better getting home from a hard day at work yeah and and more impactful yeah than we did and I was hooked so I became a board member of uh inspiration and mainly what I did was support anything that Sam did and I provided a place we started a pig roast a year fundraiser that we did he hosted our Open Mic nights awesome we hosted open mic night Open Mic M ke of course and um we had a lot of good times and I met a lot of good people and I never got involved to the point that I am now because I had no idea how hard it was to run a nonprofit now this is a just let everybody know what it is in fact that you do I'm a Kung Fu teacher I have uh nbw K uh Cape Cod in mashby and I'm also doing a recovery based martial arts now with fouth Rec Center amazing fouth Recovery Center I'm sorry Center short for recovery but it's not the same building it's an amazing place I've been teaching Kung Fu since 1997 here on the cape so for this man to say that being amongst a day of hard work with the homeless and and and spending time with them was the one of the most difficult things he's done oh it was and I'm an excavator I work in excavation I'm a truck driver I operate machines my family's been in construction we've worked hard our whole lives and I'll tell you that day was horrendous I told them we were just G to go hand out clothes but I didn't tell them we were going to carry 15 suitcases for six hours on foot she walking around Boston I think Sam this is where you and I connect I never let people know the scope of the project I'm just like we're going to do this little thing it's and while we're here we're going to do this and it's just right around the corner and we're almost there it's going to be fun so we're walking through Boston trailing six suitcases each and the wheels are breaking and the handles are breaking and we're like giving the suitcases away eventually and uh I got back in the car on the way home and I said that this is amazing I said I have to do this I have to do this with you and Sam puts her heart and soul into everything and finds inspiration in everything she finds inspiration in my art her kids and herself have been training with me since day one and and she finds a way to tie it all together so beautifully because what we are all doing is trying to create a community and a village it takes a village not only to care for kids we got to care for each other too yeah and we lost 59 people to weather exposure last year on the cape only and that's only the ones that we were reported good morning Danielle thanks for joining us from Florida yes it is an issue here on the cape and you're right that is the only ones that are reported and you don't know that there are homeless encampments throughout the cape everywhere many many places you just don't see it because it's not on your Main Street in hyenas where you know the shelter is and where they get sent out um at the end of the day because they have to be forced to the streets well they don't want to be seen they're there but they're not seen unless you know they're there right because it's dangerous for them to be seen they need to stay hiding so that they don't get their places trashed they don't get forcibly moved and have their tents sliced on a on a 15 degree night that's happened yeah and I've had people come and Sam will tell you they're calling us every week almost every day hey there's somebody out in the woods now they got nothing to nothing to wear and predators I mean there there's a lot of of Wilds that happens the wild good morning HW thank you very much for joining us and also Katie thank you hi good morning we've got Mike and Sam here from inspiration is everywhere and they're just talking about the work that they do within our community for people that are are homeless yeah and it's you know catching people who fall between the cracks is always our main priority like we have I was just at a presentation last night that Duffy Health Center did they have their in from the cold program they help people get emergency hotel rooms when it's you know 32 degrees or below or during like storms and they work with a lot of other organizations around fouth like housing like the service center belonging to each other you know to make sure that they can find these people and reach out to them and get them emergency shelter but there are some people that have had bad experiences with you know state-run organizations or don't feel comfortable asking for help and it's you know there are some people who you know prefer to be outdoors there are some you know for whatever reason that they have you know that they don't fit into the the guidelines or the restrictions of accessing the help that is available so it's really our focus is getting the people that fall between the cracks you know if we can direct someone towards services that can help them that's what we do first we exhaustively research you know any type of organization or service that's available to them and these are a lot of circumstances that are Beyond people's control sometimes and especially where we are here where it's a cyclical housing issue where people sell the house that you had renters in and you are all of a sudden homeless you have no recourse you are legitimately homeless with whatever you could be here I unfortunately know two or three Mash B families that have been here 20 25 years that have lived here all their lives and been in this home and now the owner is retired and they're selling and they're they've got nowhere to go literally nowhere and this is all they know I think we have to change the the the wordage too because homeless when you when you think homeless and what's been attached to a judgment Jud there the I call I try to tend to say unhomed right now and also families on the verge yeah because not you know they're not drunken alcoholic drug addict but that's the connotation that we have with the the and it's so not well and on top of that we still need to help those people too yeah we gotta meet we gotta help them too we can't let them freeze to death right right but I'll tell you I meet them I meet them every week I go to cars in the parking lot of Cape K mall and it looks like my aunt and uncle they're clean their normal sayane people who just have got a bad break there are people who are sleeping on people's couches you know and and going in between friends and family we are definitely that house right I am I am also that house we've got the dormatory the three of us yeah if you put the three compounds together honestly you know we're like what what do you need because we are those people we cannot watch as people are on hard times and let them be alone yeah I was doing that as a teenager I was you know there be kids would get kicked out of their parents houses and I'd be sneaking them into my basement being like be really quiet Josh says well as someone who did not have his own place of residence for four months I can tell you so many people on the cape aren't in a home in that situation there is just so much well we're really trying to reach out to the families on the verge too if you help a family that's facing Hard Times well now they're going to help you too well they're volunteers for life I mean that's one of those things that is really important to move it forward for everyone else you know what it feels like intimately we have an amazing I call them team inspiration they were um the team inspiration elves during Christmas time but we have an amazing network of volunteers about 40 of them in our group right now and that's we're adding to that every time one of the main things I'm trying to do now that Sam has put me in the position she has is I'm really trying to Not Duplicate the efforts of the other organizations around because I got into smarter not harder yeah I got into it and the first thing I was doing was trying to collect sleeping bags but then I found out well Christ the King thrift store collect sleeping bags now why should I do that right why should I collect baby clothes if Outreach Cape cot is 100% use your resources we all have to collaborate our organizations and um I work a lot with the Mand there at Outreach she's doing a great job her and Patrick uh together we K's another big organization I was with wings over fouth the family and they're awesome too but they're only they're only fouth specific so all these organizations only you know this is my parameter this is where I'm at this is all I can do and I love that you're sewing these organizations together that's what I'm try to really do fit in the cracks for where the things that people just don't fit the mold of being a don't getting Services right well and it's yeah a lot of it's I mean once you go over the hurdle and the barrier of people you know with stigma feeling like it's okay to ask for help then it's overwhelming for them to even go look for the type of help that they need so that's where we facilitate all of these different organizations and services um you know that have some of them have been around for you know 20 years and people still have no idea that they exist and they have no idea what they offer and it's overwhelming when you know you make a couple of calls and someone hands you a list of phone numbers and says okay there's your help go ahead we sit down with people we help them call these places individually we help them fill out the applications because that's also like the analysis paralysis where you just you're your battle your your walk is so heavy that you don't even know where to take that first step into anything and it's so overwhelming we can help give people rides to appointments because of Transportation issues you know just getting signed up for these Services is the main First Step that we take and then at the end of it all if there are still needs that somebody has or that a family has then that's where we take over and that sort of that fouth family community comes in where you're like well I know a guy who knows a guy who's got a cousin who knows how to like fix a car for instance yeah there are no nonprofits um other than us that have been helping people with Automotive related expenses so if something breaks like every now and then we have a mechanic who will give us free labor if we get the parts and you know we've got we got a plumber who does the same thing well that's it if you're the the quote unquote Rolodex for people to get the things that they need then then that's what you're doing that's what we're trying to be and I want everybody to know too um one of the biggest things we need right now is we need case workers who want to work with us case managers when yeah case managers to take on these people when they call because it's way too much for one person to right Sam's been doing it herself for years got like 20 people who need help and you're trying to exhaustively look for resources for all of them and give them rides and coordinate appointments and have a life and be a mom and cloth oh that what's what and have a real life Kim says good morning you are all amazing Kim you know I you know I know so we're in the of it uh Danielle said I couldn't afford the cape anymore I had to move the family my family had been there 100 years I I had to leave and you know what you were on the luckier side to be able to afford to leave some of these families can't even afford to leave no they're stuck yeah stuck yeah it's crazy it's crazy and what's what's happening now because one of the things I've kind of skewed to because of my contacts is uh I'm getting a lot of food donations like hot meals yep and I so I'm creating a network of people where I know I can bring them so people are starting to know that I know that and it's coming to me almost week I love it there was an article today even um sandwich where they they've got their soup free soup lunch on Wednesdays and they have 150 people pull up for soup you can get free meals at the H Youth Center every Thursday but if you don't have a car and you don't know where to go you don't know what it you don't know you don't know till you know right that's that's a big so these are the things that you're looking for and we've got a fundraise are coming up on Sunday so let's talk about let's talk about how awesome Rocky is also um oh Rocky is my man he's my CA his wife's got a sober house do she had two sober houses two sober hous two sober houses that she runs and he opens up his locker rooms there's free showers for the homeless so important I mean you still need to have dignity you still need to feel like a human being and you don't need to not be able to shower like it's so upsetting to me listen Rocky has been in the heart of the ghetto of East f for years doing anything for anybody and not asking for a dime you don't need money to work out of Rockies if you're in bad shape and you need to you need a shower you need whatever you need Rocky is there for you and at this point he's getting frustrated too we need to raise some money for the people that are helping the people local people helping local people that's what I like to say about inspiration Rocky's been doing that for years he's been doing that before inspiration he's been doing it forever forever and right now because you help your neighbor that's how we were raised yeah that's we're from Fisher communities that is part of boting and fishing and we help people when they need help if you say you need help everybody should get behind you and help you and somewhere that was lost um yeah Katie said it's so hard to live these days I work two jobs my husband works all week every weekend it's like a whole thing like it's really impossible to get things done um they do have a website that is daily or offers real time information to services that provide food shelters that's a really good thing that you could throw on your website but I mean then again who are you going to have to man all of that you need staff we need infrastructure we need capacity building money um and that's my main push right now yeah this uh fundraiser at Rockies we're doing is it's GNA be a lot of fun there's gonna be pushup contest Wate contest I'm standing out in the cold until I get $ thousand dollar or I'm not going nowhere yeah I'm I was hoping for warmer temperatures I was looking at the temperatures I'm like it's not looking good for you guys you guys are going to be cold I'm be out there people out there being cold so drive by and give them money so they can go back inside please I'm not going in until we get our goal $11,000 I think that's not even a lofty goal it really is not if everybody pitches in a dollar you should be there quickly in Falmouth on a on a Sunday well and it's for a raffle there's GNA be you know you're gonna be buying raffle tickets for all sorts of cool prizes um mystery boxes yeah we have a few vendors that are going to be there um check out all their cool stuff and so for the fitness competitions we've got a wallit competition a push-up compet competition a bench press competition and we're trying to get people signed up for an arm wrestling competition where there will be prizes for all of those things but we have at Rocky's gym available for pickup our pledge sheets which are the most important part um so per minute for the wall sit and per pushup and per pound for the bench press comp we all my fitness enthusiasts if you think you're the best we all like to talk a tough game come put your money where your mouth is put your body on the line for it pledge sheet we need more competitors that's what we need that's awesome so you go around you know your friends family co-workers and have people sign up to sponsor you you know for these different events and raise some money that way you know yeah at the event we'll have um a presentation on what we're really trying to do is put an addition on Rocky's show yeah that will allow inspiration to have a larger capacity to hold on to things open a little thrift store well that's the difficult part too is like when you're moving from place to place or you've got people that give you things and donate things my garage is a warehouse I have a warehouse of other people's belongings because I'm like I'll hold it for you as long as I can Sam has yeah Sam has Tent City in her backyard and has been that way for years now my mother keeps buying Greenhouse tents and she's like we can put stuff in them I I know I get it and you want to hold on to it for like that right moment but I mean it's it's just a lot for for us people us Layman we only have a much space as we have well it's hard personally you know I collect way too much stuff just personally in my personal life but when you're running a nonprofit and you have to have a bin for Halloween events a bin for Valentine's Day events a bin for when you do car washes a bin for you know art it's a lot of bins everybody so if you do have space we're looking for Capital if you have space Also Rockies is always collecting hats gloves mittens scarves sleeping bags like literally anything more yeah so we're doing yeah donation Goods Drive during the event also so bring all that stuff to Rockies when you come to the event also uh hand warmers are really good and helpful and gift cards for you know Dunkin Donuts Stop and Shop let's not forget our shoe fundraiser we need shoes we need all of your gently used to new condition shoes if we collect 2500 pairs of shoes by the end of by mid-march we're going to get a$ thousand check for our found for our organiz okay so shoes it is bring us all your shoes every shoe first of all did you know it takes about a hundred years for a pair of shoes to go away in the landfill yeah yeah they're not they don't go away yeah um and a lot of third world countries do not have a business infrastructure or shoes so these shoes are going to be shipped to those third world countries and given to young entrepreneurs opening shoe stores Y in third countries where there are no shoes so it's going to be a triple benefit these young people are going to learn how to create a business and they're going to bring shoes to an area that don't have shoes yeah which believe it or not in today's world there's still places that don't have shoes well just saving the planets with all of the stuff that we're already throwing away is nice for me back to our recycl right I got 50 bags of clothing donations that would have otherwise landed in dump or somewhere else that you know we got to launder them we gotta inventory them we got to fold them we got to store them I'm out of room some's out of room so we need these fundraisers to hit we're looking for grant money through federal and state um Grant programs to hopefully build our addition on Rocky's gym where I can hold empowering classes for women and children and inspiration we'll have the space that needs to operate the way we can operate also if you're another nonprofit that we work with and you're seeing these people think about how you can help and maybe fit in other cracks and crevices that might take something off of their back that way we're all working better together I know it's such an issue that everybody is me m and sometimes we get pigeon hold in our message which is good but we also have to look up and see why am I doing this when they're doing this and I love that you mention that because we need to work together that was my first in the first week in the business because I do this fulltime now I started realizing oh my God we're doing 10 million things that other people are doing too right oh good see Katie says I have tons of shoes I will drop them off bring me your shoes Marie Marie says that she's got tons of shoes we want your sh I know she will and you know what I want to touch on something that Marie is doing real quickly um because she is absolutely super fabulous and working with our mashby high school students and they have their show which is debuting tomorrow and I'm going to show I'm gonna incredible all the stuff that our kids are doing right I'll tell you the I I visited mby high school yesterday and I spoke to the Mandarin classes four of them very cool those kids are very active had no idea they were doing so many things in the community that's when I was in high school we it was a very it's a very different layout it's really different about what we did in high school and I also want to shout out to all all of you nonprofits if you're watching us here today I don't care if you're 501c3 or not if you're out there trying to help people don't hesitate to reach out to us we've been there and done that we can we can avoid a lot of mistakes for you if you're just getting going we can help you with fundraisers we got a kung fu crew we can do shows we love to collaborate we love to help love to collaborate and I do want to stress about inspiration and this is from Sam one of the things I'm surprised about a lot of these organizations you know you can't work for the organization and benefit from what they have an inspiration you can be a a client and a team member we take well that's important I feel like you should I mean you intimately know how you were affected by this nobody better can help you than than the person that has felt it and been there so we hit our volunteer team with everything that we get the benefit of uh donations I hit my volunteer team for us hey do you guys need any of this let's make sure that we're taken care of can't pour from an empty cup yeah yeah and that that's a fact that's well said she has so many good she does I just want to have her walk around with me and say good morning Lynn thank you for joining us one of our questions I always put a question of the day up on my Facebook page Stephanie in the morning and today is what is the best thing in life ly put bees but what is the best thing in life bees are up there it's this moment right here I feel like it's really important to be able to help our neighbors and do the things that we're doing we've got the fundraiser which is coming up on Sunday it's home is where the heart is and it really is truly wherever you find yourself in a space yeah inspiration is everywhere is here for you um let everybody know how to get a hold of you and some of the things that you do once again because I think it's really important to remind people it's okay to ask for help and it is we have many ways to get a hold of us if you know us you know where to find us the world to get we have um come to the compound either mine or Sam's you can call my cell phone 774 521 7524 Inspirations number is five 504 504 not 508 yeah right I know it was the number we got with the phone from Walmart 504 6996 n32 we also have Facebook Instagram and our website is inspiration is everywhere. org there's always updates on there ways to donate um we've got you know like a card reader thing on the website um mbw Kap cod.com is also connected kungu School kungu the Kung Fu studi address is kung fu studi address is 15 Hane Road in mashby that is a colde saac my my studio is a fourcc car garage in my house that's been converted to a studio and you can drop donations there by the studio door 247 um we did open our thrift store it was called hope inspiration Inspire Hope thrift popup store um we set it up it was beautiful we were awesome right first weekend we got zero people to come but it was great because we organized it know second weekend we had three people come in on Friday four people came in on Saturday and the fifth person was the match be of the building department they shut us down Okay so we're still working on I always ask for for I asked for forgiveness before I as for permission so I didn't realize you couldn't open a thrift store I put okay so shut it down but we're gonna go online with that we're gonna have a boutique type thrift store we're gonna have some the beautiful women of inspiration like my wife and and and and Sam here and Bri and some other didn't she just get another level of of yeah she did you you want to you want to see well you asked how she was doing I said deadly you want to see a human being fly look at my Facebook look at my wall my wife and um my wife is a second level black sash now we just tested her and one of my other top students Clayton Clayton Burke from Falmouth uh tested uh with a board of seafood from all over New England and they did amazing in my tiny little Quan in mhie Quan is the is the Chinese term for Training hall and um it was amazing I mean as her husband I was like you know as I'm like yeah that's all right that is awesome I should give myself a shout out though because I got a new title too I was awarded by the um Warriors of the Middle East Kingdom which is a organization that recognizes Americans doing Chinese kung fu cool um they awarded me the title of C Joe I used to be seafu which means father in a kung fu school well C Joe means uh founder of a system of comfort very neat and founded my own system of you founded and developed your own devel my own system of kung fu that I teach and right now we are really kung fu is not only the original mixed martial art it's the it's the original recovery program I wanted to mention on that just a little bit Danielle said Mike really helped me start my recovery Journey with my intense fear recovering from domestic violence not forgotten thank you like honestly like I'm I'm teary because it's so important it doesn't matter it's not recovery from a substance it's not recovery from a thing it could be recovery from anything any trauma is recovery how about grief for everything we've lost talking about that yeah we've got a lot lifestyle a lot of grief in Falmouth is centered around death specifically we had a shooting last night like that was truly upsetting it's really this is Cape Cod this does not happen here but yet it happens here and that's why everyone says that doesn't happen here but it does want to tell everybody out there too and I'm not just trying to pump to come from school but what we do is a lifestyle it's not just about the tournaments and the fighting and the weapons which is really cool those are really but what I've seen people do with their lives from what I've been able to bring them to with Kung Fu has been amazing uh Sam's daughter Bella's we couldn't even get her to come into a class for a year and now she's one of the leaders of my junior program and they come out of their shell we provide a safe space for them to do that and people in recovery they need to change their lives they need to change their surroundings but people in recovery don't want to come to a class full of people that are not like them well well it's just more of a challenge they don't want to have to explain you don't need to qualifier your space good morning Zach thank you so much for joining us happy Friday to you when you're rebuilding your life what are the issues honey Transportation we're trying to mix all of that yeah if you can get rid of the obstacles the recovery B martial arts class is free for anybody in recovery from anything it doesn't matter what you're in recovery from it's free we're trying to set up a ride share program and we're trying to raise enough money for me to even make money to do the classes so I don't have to go do something else yeah I love it access it's what people need and you guys are giving inroads to that join them Sunday uh it starts at 10 o'clock 10 o' it's it might have to go on all night if they don't get the Thousand I'll be out there Monday morning if we don't have cash no it's gonna H it's gonna happen hopefully it'll happen way before five o'clock they've got a whole host of activities that are going on at Rockies you can grab a pledge sheet you can make a donation please get involved inspiration is everywhere whether it's this organization or another that you see fit to donate to this is our message to you for the weekend just go out and be a good human I talked to Clayton and my wife last night about their pledge sheets and they're really upset because they're not getting sponsors if you guys want to sponsor them yeah reach out on Facebook or whatever and pledge you know five bucks a minute for the wallit or whatever whatever you would like to do let's show them some support I mean me and Clayton are literally going to drive to New York at 6:00 in the morning tomorrow and get home at about 1: in the morning animals and then get up and do a fun and then we get up and do a a fundraiser but honestly like that's how you know you're alive it's one of those things you're like he I'm not complaining I love my life and Sam has inspired me to do so much more with it than I normally would have with this Foundation it's amazing we're really excited that you guys stopped by and I'll see you guys on Sunday at some point Rachel good morning Josh my son Boston learned a lot about patience and relaxation with Kung Fu so he thanks you hey Josh how you doing man my favorite thing about the Kung Fu is the belief in yourself it's you know you start when you come to your first class and you see all the things that people are doing and you're like oh it looks really hard and difficult and but it takes a long time to get there but that first day that you do something you know or you achieve something or you're able to stretch to a certain level that you never thought you could do it unlocks something in someone's brain where they realize that they are capable of doing more than they ever thought they could and that first time where you see someone achieve that where they do something they thought they could never do you know you think I can't do a push-up I can't and then they work hard and you get to that point where you do one push-up that's all it takes for someone to realize maybe there are other aspects of my life where I can do things I never thought possible where you you know there are people who thought I could never get sober I could you know I could never get over these hurdles in my life I could never get over my trauma once you start seeing other little areas of life where you can do things you never thought you could it opens up your mind and it unlocks these neural Pathways that actually physically change your brain and the way that you problem solve and the way that you believe in yourself it's not it's not like mystical woo woo stuff I like that we like the mystical woooo we like that too but it creates new snaps in your brain which lead you down a better path it happens every day I have a tiny little school now we have like 10 15 people I used to have over 200 students it's always the same every night in the studio somebody does something they couldn't do before that's it and kung fu is acquired skill it means nothing about fighting the word literally translated means accomplishment through effort so that's amazing that's it first step is always the hardest absolutely couple of quick programming notes for you before we go um Saturday I'm going to be over at Everly it's 55 plus Community Music Bingo it's open to the public we have such a good time music is soothing to the soul and also makes your brain fire in ways you never thought of uh we've got tickets on sale right now to Cabin Fever that is happening March 2nd the Ean night Society is performing we're raising money for Habitat for Humanity putting people in homes so and they've been doing so for 35 years and they they it's the their program is phenomenal I can't say enough about how Habit For Humanity they really do such good things getting people in homes keeping them in homes and helping them feel like they build them because they have to be part of the whole process also so that's March 2nd we've got that
