saraphina and I were in a entrepreneurial book club where Stephanie never read the right book and Stephanie was terrible at this book club I really stopped at CL I did not fabulous I'm what I just had a visual just had a visual proud of it hold hello and good morning it's already Wednesday The Summer's going yeah I blinked an hour we in like middle August you I first off we have got habitat Cape Cod in the house we've got Sandra who is visiting us and we've got um a bunch of visits coming up which I'm looking forward to yeah so um next week uh our CFO um Peter Brooks will be joined by um longtime volunteer Ron winter um Peter and Ron are the co-chairs for our ride for homes event which is on Sunday September 15th at apoxic Trading Post I always right that's good you did really well with that and born and um they're gonna be talking all things ride for homes um so for those who you don't know um it's it's importantly a ride um so Riders can slack 12 20 or 40 miles uh they can go all the way to Woods Hole and back back uh it's Scenic beautiful ride along the canal uh but this year we we added a ride and run option and um for Riders and riders for Walkers and Runners um they have the option to choose their distance along the canal will have markers along the way and um you know it's Funtime barbecue Libations music games like it's just it's really you know a laidback fun time you get to mingle with everyone um the we are still seeking participants to um ride run or walk um the minimum fundraising is 300 and um that's a nice low bar too so I mean any amount counts yeah I mean we have you know we're already participants exceeding that already but you know um it's just it's a great way to be involved um the fundraising goes back to helping us build more affordable homes on cap cods with local families um probably some of the um homeowners and future homeowners will be there um but yeah skin in the game I love it yeah skin in the game definitely um and it's just a nice time and beautiful I mean you can't get well I mean you can't get beautiful where you live in the most beautiful place I feel like September is the perfect time to have something like this because it's really kind of just us now yeah I mean it's it's still summer in SE in September and the weather is maybe a little cooler hum feeling fallik right now it's kind of weird good morning Cindy thanks for joining us Alex from wkk L's 90.7 over at the college hi movie Madness uh we've got Sandra from habitat Cape Cod and I got your your summer news letter which is it was a book there was so much going on my head was spinning because I'm going through it going what are we going to be able to talk about so I'm glad we've broken it up to a few Wednesdays of different stuff that you do Habitat for Humanity is just such an incredible organization um with so many programs and ways for volunteers to participate I think that that is one of the number one issues that all of us are facing here on Cap Cod and let's face it in in the United States is housing is a huge problem yeah I saw today in the news that um California is now addressing some of their um State landlocked um properties that they're trying to unlock to make housing for kids in in schools and teachers and people that we need to have because they don't have housing it's like we have a huge issue even here in Mash P where they had to close the prek program and it's because they don't have a teacher and it's because they can't afford to live here so it's like really incredible for people to find out two weeks before school starts that they don't even have um school for their kids and now have to have this tremendous uh unaffordable daycare situation it's really it's it's really hard yeah so I mean you guys put your money where your mouth is and literally with their Hammers and tools building homes for people to live in and make it sustainable so that they can stay there and Thrive um so maybe just talk about what habitat Cape Cod does and maybe how it's a little bit different from the organization sure um yeah so we um have been around for 36 years we we built nearly 200 homes across the cape um we've built in every single town and um the homes that we build um were they're in partnership with local families um businesses sponsors donors and volunteers so um you know it costs money to not only build the home but I mean one of the the objections we come over like oh yeah you get free homes we do not that's not it and um so first of all the homes cost well over $350,000 to build plus the cost of land so we rely on land donations um and we work closely with towns uh Land Trust conservation trust um to if we need a purchase land we are working with um Community preservation committees to receive funds to purchase land so um you know and the the homeowners um they go through an extensive application process um you know essentially when they submit their application that's essentially an affordable mortgage um pre-authorization um so you know they're having we reviewing all their application their references their financial documents make sure credit to debt ratio and I don't want that to scare people away from throwing in their applications because they there's so much assistance in your area with your volunteers and the people that are in your office to fill these out fill these out properly yeah get all of the funding that that people need and get a roof over your head yeah and we don't have an application open right now um our last application closed in may actually we were on your show yeah I can't believe it's been this whole summer has gone on and you guys have just been building away for more building away um you know looking to you know we have a whole bunch of projects upcoming in the pipeline so right now as far as the you know applicant process is we've had volunteers review the applications we've had local banks um review our paperwork make sure our numbers are okay and now we have a volunteer team that are going out to where these um persective applicants are currently residing um and interviewing them to make sure you know they are who they are answer any questions and also explain the Sweat Equity portion of our home ownership program I think that that's important for people to understand that there is Sweat Equity good morning Miss Eva Linda thank you for joining us on the show this morning sander from habitat Cape Cod just talking about a little bit of the process and and how they strategically plan the amount of planning that goes into everything that you do is kind of crazy it's a lot yeah and you know but that's how you know it's necessary yeah um so right now those interviews are happening this equity for those who don't know um each if an applicant is chosen to out of the lottery to move forward in our home ownership program where ultimately they will building their house um alongside volunteers donor sponsors um and about 10 12mth construction time frame and they'll get a afford they'll have an affordable mortgage after that um they are you know required to do 250 hours of Sweat Equity per Delon household so if it's it's a couple it's 500 hours if it's a single person um single mom single dad it's two 250 hours and that means they're on build sites or at the race store at least one day a week um on top of managing their job or jobs their family you know children Etc so it's it's a huge undertaking but it's so worthwhile you know Sweat Equity kind of equates to a down payment if you look at that that process um so that's what's going on right now there's interviewing happening and then those that move forward um from the intervene will get entered into a lottery so um hopefully that will happen by the end month which is great um and um I feel like you're building in every town right now it seems everywhere it's really good that it makes my heart really happy I just saw something about Falmouth and that has been a huge bone of contention with other 40b projects that are going on and people are really upset about that and habitat really is mindful about the way that they build and where they build and how they're building and I think that that is really just an your organization is super incredible like that where they're mindful of their space yeah we're we're mindful we also have a great relationship with the towns conservation land trust because that's all part of the equation when we're you know submitting applications for um projects to progress in planning and permitting so um yeah so there's there's a whole many of the whole bunch of projects coming up I just want to revert back that a lot of um people don't know this is the homes that are built they are DED to remain affordable in purety so um you know say the homeowners something changes in their lifestyle where they need to sell their home you know it can't be flipped however they will get some equity and that home will get entered into um the affordable housing pool and our um we work with um the housing assistant Corporation and handle our resale lotteries so they'll have their own lottery so that home is still affordable but um yeah I mean it's not going you know it's not getting flipped it's it's going to be there and I mean we have people that are coming in and they're like you know I just paid off my mortgage and you know it take you know anyone in this home ownership program um they're removing themselves out of the housing crisis cycle um you know with the affordable mortgage yeah they have so many people that um you know after they get their mortgage they're taking promotions they're taking raises um which in other kind of Housing Programs um that can't happen where if they take a raise they're going to lose their housing or lose their daycare or they have to pay more and they're already maxed out even though you know having two or three jobs yeah and um so once we have a couple that I can think of right in harage um they one now is a suf um at a very very prestigious Resort and then you know his wife was able to take a direct director role at an education center that she works with so they're they're making their lives better for themselves and their family we have um you know families taking their first vacation um you know with their kids their kids are living um a much different life than before um this process um of them you know getting the home um and working towards the home and having that affordable mortgage um we have um sponsorships that are from individuals or companies that make solar possible on our homes and what's it's totally wonderful about this is these homeowners they email us and there's actually in their newsletter of a negative balance or no balance on their energy because that is lifechanging for a lot I know it'd be life changing around here I will tell you that right now it's you know that's one less bill that they have to pay and that's huge because that's you know one less stress um you really do make it set it's set up for success and it is growth minded as getting yourself out of whatever space it is and I love that the people that when they pay off their mortgage they come and like give you flowers or people put themselves in the programs I know some of the people that are officers within your program that were habitat winners that have gone through the program themselves and have this great because I honestly I think the best way to Showcase what habitat Cap Cod does is to come from a place where you actually used them and to be like this is me this is where I'm living right now and I'm helping more people get homes it's great yeah we are homeowners they are our advocates for this program you know they are a prime example of what we do and why we do it um so like yeah we have a homeowner on our Board of director like you know she has gone through the process she's I think uh 2012 was when she built her home so I mean she's now 12 years out from H you know you know having a mortgage and be able to you know it affordable mortgage um and right now in Brewster we're um pretty much almost finished up with that build at phb way and um those future homeowners are now going through the last process of um their workshops so um homeowners do have to attend about 15 workshops from wealth management Insurance solar um because we want to set them up for Success all the stuff that goes along with being a homeowner except for getting a roof over your head there's more yeah I mean it's and a lot of um our homeowners they've never been in a home home um ownership situation so they might you know have struggles of okay before my landlord took care of that or you know this was already taken care of so we assign a volunteer family Partners to Mentor them throughout the course of the build and actually the family Partners stay on for a year after just to communicate with them to see how things are going um this should be a class in high school I don't know why it's not I really I feel like we should all be learning these things as we're getting ready to be an adult and it just doesn't happen yeah I it really doesn't I've talked to people in finance that are like I never learned how to actually do the regular finances I do higher-end stuff I don't do this stuff so it's little things like that are getting lost in the cracks and I love that your organization addresses that um good morning Kristen and Walter Todd thank you for joining us on the show Cindy says more about volunteering or can email me Sandra habitat.org and we can uh talk about you know what you looking to do for volunteering because volunteering is not just hammering nails and Chingling like we will teach you if you don't know how to do that or I mean we do have plenty of people out that are experienced that come to us um and we'll teach you the Habit jet standard but you know volunteering could be a family partner mentor to the homeowners it could be reviewing applications it could be um out a restores it could be kind of this you know project go all the time they restores if you've not checked them out one in felet and the other one that's across from Sea Dog where Yarmouth yes South Yarmouth um it just my daughter's like why are we here I'm like I don't know I just want to be here I might find a knob I need for something or I might just you never know what's in there it calls me you never know what's gonna be in there and you know the restore truck might pull up and you know there's something on there that you want like there's been times where I'm at the restore I see the truck pull up and then I see people just be line the truck they buy it right off the truck you know Treasures um yeah I mean it's it's really a treasure hunt um and there's so many great materials because it's not I know we've skipped it all around but on on habit yeah we want to talk about the Decon process and maybe a little bit about where the stuff from the restore comes from yeah so first of all we you know we're not you know taking Ikea we're not taking that like faux wood we're taking wood we're taking like good quality items and um actually right now um if you go to either one of the resar you'll see Ashley Furniture um we actually um have a partnership with them and we're selling new couches new um you know bunk beds frames at really good prices um so definitely check them out at the race store but we're still and we are we accept donations um the is this way to see hey will you guys take stuff you know my stuff it would be going online to our website um in the r store and um you can email us you can um take photos and submit that inquiry um to the restore and they will get back to you and say yeah we'll take that we'll not take it um and we pick up for free um so if you have a whole bunch of furniture like why log it to the restore we can come to you um and then our deconstruction program it's been a around for two years and it's a phenomenal program um it's fully volunteer run we have about I want to say we're approaching maybe 55 60 volunteers that are cross from cap from bour to provinc toown and they are fully insured fully trained wonderful people that um will meet with businesses we meet with homeowners um that are either updating their you know house or business renovating or even tearing down so our volunteers will come to you with a appropriate you know time that works for you and they will see what you want to donate see what you're doing to your home and see if there's any way we can have you know have you donate those items to us and so it keeps it at the landfills yeah that's what I'm saying that's what I love because you know instead of seeing a giant dumpster roll up you've got people that are carefully deconstructing this kitchen area because they're going to reuse the cabinets you get the win because you don't have to throw stuff away and break your back and then habitat gets the win because they can resell it to somebody somebody who picks it up can win because they don't have to pay too much for a kitchen that's already ready for them it really is really a wonderful process and I I recommend them wholeheartedly uh we did the same thing with our car where I called and I'm like come get it because I I was going to sell it and then I don't want to deal with it and then I would rather the money just go to Habitat and they did they came they picked it up keys in it by said goodbye to our our family car and then I got a letter saying that they sold it for way more than I would have sold it for and I was so happy that it went to the organization so I was like good that made me feel good we're glad it feel good did um and the car the vehicles don't have to run so it could be car boat snow bile RV um you know reach out to us um because as long as it has a title you're will will most likely take that um but you get a tax you know right off for that car donation or boat donation a boats do need to be on a trailer um that's one caveat uh sorry guys sorry um and you know your donations at the restar you're also getting a tax write of um so you'll be able to take you know deduction on your taxes um so our deconstruction program going back to the intake it's not just kitchen cabinetry or vanities it could be mantel pieces it could be like doors um access Building Supplies um you know when our team goes in we work with a homeowner but if you have a contractor or a builder we'll work with them and they're coming in on this day we'll come in in a day or two before we'll take that out we'll clean that out so your project is not interrupted you can just you know your Contracting just get started I mean in our newsletter um we did a an uninstallation um at St Mary's Episcopal Church uninstallation uninstallation demolition um they were um they're doing a renovation to the rectory house because they just um got a new priest and um you know things need to be updated so we we demoed it out and you know cleaned it up and you know they were happy we were happy um leave it to the habitat demo team they'll take it all away for you perfect yeah and we have a great relationship with um the home builders and rs Association of Cape Cod um builders contractors Architects interior designers um so you know if you're out there and you have a client you know doing a renovation call us and we'll we'll talk to both you and them and um come out and just you know see what we can sell at the restores and so if kitchen cabry can't be sold at restores because we love in cake pod sometimes things a little too dated and that's okay we can still demo it out for a fee um and the contractors love that yeah um so that fee is a donation so again tax right off and we'll dispose of it properly and if there's anyway we can make some money here for Habitat we're doing it yeah build more fores and K exactly I also like that uh when I go to the FMA store they've got the paint they've got the thing all ready to go so I'm I'm going to buff up this piece of whatever it is I got a couple of pieces for our farmers market and now we serve vegetables off of of them and they look super cute and they've been upcycled yeah I mean we have a lot of people that do upcycle and um we had a a woman I can't think of her name um she tagged us on Instagram and she took a piece at the r store took it home redid it gorgeous brought it back to the restore to be sold and you know that's you know her part and I I don't know what it sold for about a lot more than we people are so creative I am I do not have that bone in my body that's not what do well good morning Dave hegner here's another one of your volunteers hi Dave and hi Kathy we love the hegers they're amazing they are amazing um and Dave go he was at will at way for I think two plus years um Co made things a little longer but um will way is a tenome um community of all single moms um it was two phases and we finished the last phase of three Homes at the end of last year and Dave was an integral part of that volunteer team um as well as Barry and Iris and there's so many names I could put down um you have just an incredible roster of volunteers of all shapes and sizes and kinds and the ways that people give to your organization and they get back more than they give like that you know that feeling that you know they create um relationships with new future homeowners they you you know I I was watching um a a clip of something or article and they said that um belonging to volunteering or belonging to club actually extends your life and um it really it really does but also you get a whole community so a lot of our volunteers are either you know just moved here or have been here for a little bit or they create their own Community yeah for sure um and it just you know extends their experience on Cape Cod and you know they have friends for life and there are friends for life um so yeah so we finished a whole bunch of builds um at the end of last year um our Brewster project is finishing up our home dedication ceremony will be in October so more to come on that very cool um and then we so on August 28th so our last Wednesday of our series um I'll be back with um our um Board of director chair um Peter Kimbell um he will he also heads up our blood build committee with um H Brock and he'll be talking about the blitz build which is it's going to be here before we know it it's next month it's the week of September 23rd um we are um you never rest we we don't we don't um I don't know if sleep or whatever that I don't know what sleep is no but we um actually we have a a phenomenal um work culture and we actually were just um we're getting recognized as Honore for a cape and Plymouth um media marketing as and best places to work so I'm excited about that but um The Blitz build um is in partnership with home builders and remodelers association with capod so um HRA their members their Associates um we love them because they donate not only their time their labor but all the materials to build one home and one week for one family so that's just huge that's insane planning starts like a year ago so we're we're all excited we're going to be looking for volunteers to help with registration and checkin um for during that week so it's from the 23rd to the 27th uh but all the labor for the first house at Jack delene and Dennis is be done by um the home builders and room Association of Cap Cod um so if you're interested and volunteering um reach out to me go on our website um if you or a member associate of H Brock contact us and and you want to donate or of Labor or whatever um we will get in contact with Peter and H BR to talk further about that um so yeah so we have the ride for homes which is on the 15 uh we have um the bit Blitz build which is on 23rd 27th and then in October we are going to raise four walls in wealthy and officially start our wealthy project amazing yeah like that's a long time um coming and we're so excited to be back in the lower Outer Cape area um it's been a while so we're excited if you're looking to volunteer let us know we do have um leadership roles for our coordination team for Dennis as well as weet um please reach out to me Sandra habitat.org um we have registration coordinator devotion coordinator registration coordinator and uh volunteer site coordinator roles but also we'll need volunteers to help um support construction and registration and devotion and snacks so um reach out to me um and our website um and so wealthy raising Wells um so we'll have a community and volunteer kickoff um in October we're g all the dates right now are T so I'm just saying October um please yeah just check their website check it off um sign up for our um e newss because you'll get emails from us about these um dates and then we'll have a wall raising um our dedication for feebe way and Brewster and then we'll at the end of October tively we're going to have the community and volunteer kickoff event for the remaining three homes in Dennis um and then we'll have our wall raising in November for um Jack Delan Lan which is the three remaining homes Dennis it really is incredible that you touch every single Cape Cod town and it's we're it's a a lot our land mass when you explain to people exactly how big Cape cot is I think it baffles their mind that we really are such a connected Community for being so far and spread out yeah I mean it's amazing it's a it's a big world and a small world because you'll be surprised of you know who like oh volunteers and Brewster um recently someone had mentioned that they worked in Western Mass at one point and then there's like five of them like yeah okay they lived all within 30 minutes but they didn't know each other before habitat so that's awesome it's just kind of you don't know like you could meet someone like that has I feel I feel like cap cot is that way y it's a Melting Pot of all the peoples we all just want to enjoy the seashore we're all trying anyway yes yes um so in the pipeline so beyond um this year um we will be building in armouth um six homes we're hoping that will start at the end of next year if not the beginning of the year after um two homes in maron's Mills uh two homes um back in Brewster um then we'll be um have we have two projects that will be in fouth um you have four homes that will be behind the fouth restar and gford Street Extension we're hoping that will happen the next few years and then there's going to be a bigger project up to 13 homes in north fouth um where working collaboration with the 300 committee um that's a few years out and then we have a collaborative project in Orleans at the old Governor Prince um Hotel property very cool um that is in collaboration with POA and hack and then there will be up to there will be seven home Habitat homes in that property so we have a few things going on in the next few years and there's also stuff in the pipeline that can't talk about yet but um you know a lot of great things and you'll be breaking that on this show here so I definitely suggest that you always keep coming back to us when we have Sandra on because you never know what's going to be in the pipeline because I feel like it grows all of the time and you blink and you might miss something that's happening in your community I feel like it's a great time to start this conversation as we start the school year as our kids are growing as we're having these conversations about volunteerism and ways to help your community I feel like there's so many opportunities no matter what age or space that you're in to be able to throw a a few volunteer hours towards habitat Cape Cod because this once again is one of the biggest issues that we're facing here on the cape is where are people gonna live yeah exactly um so I was peeking out the um the comments and everything so uh yes Cindy yep yep we'll we'll get volunteering down for you um and uh yes Dave says you got to watch The Blitz builds and John wants to know where in armouth so it's on Route 28 and Wood Road um so if you know where the um Bridgewater State Property in the field it's if you're heading towards kind of like H like trying to drive d m um it's it's right there um it's because you have like Mattress Firm and that kind of it's between the mattress firm and the field kind of that area so it's in my mind I'm sorry if free to me and we'll we can get you more of a def location I don't know I don't remember the name they building on a blank space that's where if there's a blank space there we're gonna fill it with habitat houses and we have an incredible team that um you know rcks really hard um Beth Wade is our director of um land acquisition project development um she works very closely with the towns and land trust and um Butters of of the future projects and make sure every everyone's you know happy um you know trying to secure those um future land Acquisitions um so we have path and then we have you know Bob Riley he director of Rec construction he's overseeing that process and we just um we have um Bob and then he has two staff um Dez McMahon and he's our site seers and we just hired our project manager um Dan Allen so we've grown our staff um and Dan and Bob is going to be overseeing well Fleet so if you're looking to volunteer um you'll be volunteering for them and us and then um Dez will be headed to Dennis at ja anden Lane to oversee those um three homes um because we have the bloodz build as the first home incredible um so but what we do would not have been possible if if we didn't have our donors our supporters our Advocates volunteers and the local families because you all help us build um more homes here the place where we love and live and work and play um you know with local families and we are grateful for the ongoing sport of our community um and speaking of the community so we have two local banks that um we have created Partnerships with um they have created a um product that's a similar structure to what the um USDA offered habitat Cape Cod for affordable mortgages so um um huge kudos to seaman bank and the Cooperative Bank of cepod um they are you know helping us make possible to have you know mortgagees expedited um you know fast and keeping a local um because USDA tended to be a little bit longer which yeah you know but they're really Expediting that process what the government takes too long no that's not real my what no good morning Karen Michael thank you for joining us on the show John says I know where they're going to build it it's about time that lot get used yes we're excited yeah yes if you've got lots I think that this is a good conversation also to have if you got this piece of property that's been rotting in your family and you're like what am I going to do with it are we going to build there are we not going to build there maybe possibly think about donating also when you're adjusting your your Estates while you're doing your taxes maybe you're making your Wills maybe you're making and I know it's a weird conversation to have but it might be nice to have something that is given back to the place in which you loved if you don't have any family and you've got fur babies or if you're figuring out what you're going to do with this lot of land and you want it to go to something amazing or your estate or maybe you can make donations I know that when you get to be of a certain age and a lot of our volunteers are and when we get to the space of life you have to take a draft you have to take money from your 401ks you from your things you have to take the money and maybe sometimes you need to not be in a higher tax bracket might be a good place to give to Habitat for Cape Cod just saying we have many people that do that because it's benefiting and you know you want your money to go to a great place and we'd love to be that great place because you're helping impact you know everyone around you because our homeowners they're your grocery clerks your nurses your teachers your laborers they're keeping them Cape alive for everyone else um and you know it's critical to keep them on Cape and speaking of land um I we had talked about this before in May but so Beth Finch is the land owner for Phoebe away in Breer and um she I think had like an acre and a quarter and she wasn't using all her land and she wants to keep people on Cape that are essential to Cape um and are you know have to keep the cape alive and businesses alive and have nurses and teachers to educate um our youth and everything and so she subdivided her lot into three lws so she kept her house um and then she donated those two lots to us so she made Phoebe way possible um because she donated those you know two lots Stu anding our amazing donors um you know help you know fund the project you have the Ocean Edge Resort and golf club um rure construction um does all the roofing for all of our projects that's um shout out yes Cam appliances amazing they provide the heart of the home five energy efficient appliances brand new to every single habitat project W that's that's huge and they also donate their dinged um appliances they have to our restores so I mean you can be walking to our restores and leaving with the brand new Appliance like that's amazing amazing um the Church of the Holy Spirit New Orleans sponsored at home and then we have the friends of Bob Harding which um Bob Harding um actually so the church the Church of the Holy Spirit two of their past members that um gibert Merritt and that Godard and then good I'm trying to remember everything can't always but um they are you know they have passed they're um members of their church but also a long time have have volunteers with us and then the friends of Bob Harding are a mix of the donors are volunteers and supporters of ours but they did it in memory of Bob Harding which a longtime habitat um volunteer and a World War II veteran um who saw action at yima and among other places in war IO the amount of incredible people retirees and just skillful amazing humans that come together on some of these builds not only do you it like feeds your soul but you get to talk with people and learn their life and it's just it's it's pretty magical it's really it's really cool I know I sound so cheesy right now but it really is like it feeds your soul it does it does you know you have those conversations with homeowners um and hear their stories and hear you know what they're going through but um the volunteers you might be standing next to someone that was a robotics engineer at Nasa and you would never know that unless you like asked about it or a teacher that spent you know x amount of years working in you know a city school like you just meet some really incredible people that have incredible past um and they're giving back they're you know they're donating their talent time and treasure to us to help our mission of um you know homeowner you know having local families become homeowners unlock the dream of um home ownership and they're becoming self-reliant and they're preserving you know the community and being better people because they can because they're not constantly stressed by having three jobs and trying to make Ryan next and everything so there's a lot going on I know and that's why we're gonna have habitat back a few more times to talk about like some of their different programs because it's just really too much to jam into one show it's insane like it's insane um and then we have our um handcrafted kayak raffle going on right now until October 10th we're going to um pull the winner um just before Columbus Day weekend and yes that's October yes right um just you know two months away that's that's scary that's two months away but um this kayak is gorgeous um we this is our 21st year of having the raffle um and it's volunteer me um this this year I think is the fourth year John Pine there are two wonderful volunteers that make the kayak in their spare time and they um bring it all around to f that's amazing they are sometimes in Providence town um actually I believe it's Friday they're in provinc town to stop by um and every Wednesday this summer they're at the handcraft kayak is on tour yes yes and then we we we are grateful to have um two kayaks on display one in Yarmouth restore and one in the fouth restore so you can see one up and close and personal um in this kayak this year is dedicated it's called the Armed Forces um kayak it's dedicated Bill Whitmer um he's one of our volunteers he's a veteran um bill and his um late partner Pat Taylor she and Bill um they made the calak before John and Pauline and they actually mentored John and Pauline so when it was time to pass the rains um they you know they work very close to the John pen um the Bill's some cool Crafters here on the cave yeah um you know Bill's a wonderful person Pat was a wonderful person elaser kayak was K to Pat so it's just very heartwarming um and The Kayaks are just gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous so if you want to buy raffle tickets um head over to the restores or you can go online um and try your luck to Wi these beautiful kayaks what's the website again habitat.org definitely go and volunteer with Sandra I think I've already scooped you up like three or four volunteers here so yes yes thank you and we thank everyone um for watching today and also you know come on down to the RO stores you never know what you're going to find um we we work with like businesses that are you know in the building industry so sometimes you get like a brand new like kitchen cabinetry or desk or whatever I mean it's gorgeous like it could be super high-end and you know it's going back to being sold to someone that may have not been able to even afford that yeah at full price I love your organization if you can do anything to assist them in their mission then definit jumping and do something because they're not going to tell you no and and what funny that you say that is our deconstruction program came to us because a recommendation of from a volunteer that was affiliated with another affiliate um and said hey this is really working out there like you guys should do it here and it's been vastly successful yeah people just love it and we love it and it makes sense it's going to a good cause you're you're really making a tremendous impact by donation so thank you I love it Sandra you're always welcome here I'll tell you that right now we'll talk to Habitat more uh we've got to go I have um kids day in Barnstable today so barnable police put this event on every single year it's 25 years they've been doing it where kids can come and it's literally just like a free-for-all they have fun they feed them ice creams they get um to meet fire departments and they learn how to work the holes and see their Cruisers I'm playing some t tons of organizations and they just come and play it's just a full-on field day for them totally free so if you've got a kid and you're looking for something to do today come and see us over at kids day we've got tons of activities we've got music Bingo um Robin's going to be out at Cape Cod Winery today Cliff's at Cape Cod beer I'm over at Sandwich Taverna Tobias is at CW Republic in New Bedford we have tickets to the King
