all right all right we're here we're here you just can't see us yet hi hello everyone and Welcome to our show Sunday Funday at knock about we are waiting on mermaid here I know we have a little people that are like where I see witches um but I do not see mermaids that are giving me Tinsel in my hair right now it was a problem earlier so I am joined today by Joellen and Susan from our witches on the water and I'm gonna give you the microphone and stand beside you because I want people to know about your non-profit organization as fun as the witch's hats are you actually do something for the good of all of the cape so I want them to know about it thank you thanks Steph for having us here we're so psyched she's number one so she we're here specifically to um support Steph as well you've always been an incredible supporter of us and we really really appreciate it so I'm Joellen Erickson and I'm here with my other bestie witch Susan price hello co-founders of which is on the water and we are a local non-profit organization making ways for other local nonprofits on Cape Cod and we do this every year with a fabulous fantastic costume paddle this year it's going to be October 7th at oyster Pond in Chatham it is a must-see it is a must do and our 2023 recipient is the amazing organization capabilities so we are thrilled to be uh Making Waves for them and having some fun this year and we're here at knockabout which is amazing I've never been in a cool place I will be back um so what else is what else can we share so we I want to tell you a little bit about how we got started um Joellen and I are a long time paddling friends and one year we saw a picture of someone dressed up like a witch paddling and we said oh we have to do this so we gathered a group of friends and showed up on a Saturday in Orleans and there were 13 of us and the world went crazy they got really excited about seeing a bunch of witches on paddle boards and the the feedback we got was incredible so we felt like oh my gosh had her on the Shelf yeah okay Drew Barrymore the very first day we did it somebody said what are you raising money for here's a thousand dollars well of course we didn't have anything to put it for except ourselves so we didn't accept it however um we decided if people are that excited let's hold a paddling a witch's coddling event and raise money and so we just started the ball rolling and we became a 501c3 yeah and we choose a different recipient every year let's tell them how oh you can tell them how go ahead so there are seven board members in every year each board member chooses another non-profit to go literally in a cauldron and the only real main criteria is that this local this nonprofit serves the Cape Cod Community yep so everybody puts their options in and we have another non-board member pick it out and uh everyone gets on board no matter if that's the choice you put in The Cauldron or not as soon as that name comes out we are full throttle for that organization so it's incredible so if you're a local non-profit out there and you want us to learn a little bit more about you and you want to learn a little bit more about us please for new names to put in that cauldron so uh don't be shy yeah check us out too because you'll get to learn a little bit more on October 7th just what all of our great efforts go towards yeah did you talk about your recipient this year capabilities show capabilities is an amazing organization that is serving a very special for special wonderful population here on Cape Cod and they have they do this through Services all different kinds of services but one of their um one of their wonderful spots is the form the capabilities Farm on Route 28 in in Dennis um what else can we talk about so what so how do we say what they do they create an inclusive life for all members of society so they create job opportunities for people with disabilities um and I went in there and set up their podcasting lab hi Stephanie Village they're amazing um we're walking in the Fourth of July parade in Chatham so if you happen to be in that area please come you are going to love the float it is fabulous and we'll have some of the team members from capabilities walking with us we can't wait for that and their site capabilities dot com I do believe capabilities Google capabilities it'll show up yes and they're on our website as well and they're incredible edible so we're thrilled to have all of our efforts go towards them this year yeah so um so registration opens on August 15th our event will be October 7th so it's 50 to register as a paddler who dresses like a witch and a minimum of 250 dollars to raise for capabilities um we're pretty serious about our mission every year people think kind of look at us and think we're funny but we raise a lot of money well we're unique and different and we have fun doing it and we do yeah and the word is spreading and spreading and also um if even if you're not a paddler come down and check it out this wonderful gal will be here with us and we have um a band playing after the event we have food trucks we have incredible things and we're gonna have good weather nature yes she better it's a lot of fun beautiful town of Chatham oyster Pond um and the town by the way I'm gonna give a little kudos to them they've been incredible to work with this is our third year with them we are so thrilled to partner up um down there and and do this wonderful wonderful event so you don't want to miss it no yeah no you do that it's so fun and if you you know one of the reasons why I love this is because I don't run ever and all of the fundraisers are like come Run 5K come run the 3K not I'm gonna happen on with that so but I love to paddle board so this is actually a great way for me to you know get involved in it there's nothing like seeing all of you up on your boards out together in costume it is an incredible sight to see and the costumes are on the blue yeah they're funny they're not just t-shirts and a hat I mean there is some amazing and it's okay if you're just t-shirts and a half yes that's true that's usually me I'm the one who has got to step up my game you know president co-founder and I'm the basic one that's it nothing there's always going to be a basic witch that always has to be about her thank you so much to our witches on the water today we are here at Sunday Funday it's knock about and uh 13 Lake Ave just in case you're wondering I know the witches were like is it the new one in the Mashpee Commons that is called garden party just in case so we're here at the original location and uh there's a Makers Market now this happens twice a month all summer long so we would love for you as a maker as a Creator as a crafter this is fee free so you can come here and set up and show off all of the hand crafts or things that you make or things that you sell for a no fee at all which I think is really important because it's magical isn't it it's so cool it is uh We've also got food here today gopal Farms we're about to go buy some scallops yeah so there are some if you didn't order some there are some that they brought the midnight hours here and they're going to be here once a month with scallops which oh I'm so excited I got three pounds and I'm like maybe I should get more because of Fourth of July I forgot about it and I was like no one's eating my scallops I have to hide them very protective of myself as you should be yeah right it's delish and they've got fabulous beers seltzers the menu always rotates here at knockabout I definitely suggest that you follow them on social because they've got comedy events they have trivia nights during the week something for everyone they're so super family friendly Megan Pete do a really good job and they've got small girls so they really do an amazing um place for you to come for your entire family and it's not just all about just booze and it's about General living your life in a good fashion and that's what we're doing we've got CBD we've got crystals we've got um the blue ocean life is here Aaron threads who just made me my new handbag I needed a bag because I lose everything that's fabulous yeah but it's so that I can put it on and then I have all my stuff here for when I need things especially at events like this I lose everything all the time right and she made them no I didn't I lose my keys poor Lisa was at an event the other day and she lost her keys and had to get a ride home oh yeah she still didn't find it you need one of these bags you need one of the bags there you go also we have Nita here with resin art and she made me a little lemonadeio resin art very cute so yeah we've got a rotating um group of crafters and makers so
