it really goes to show what is happening over at the Boys and Girls Club right now and you've been president for how long I've been president for 15 years I've been on the board for 20 it's amazing got a great great great staff over there to take care of the kids would you even believe that it's here we are 2025 we're in the middle of school vacation week it is flipping freezing thankfully the boys and girls club offers a little rest bit for the kids and places for them to go during vacation week right we'll have a full house down there we have a lot of activities for them all week long so many things I absolutely love it even my son loves when you have Dan open house on Fridays they'll go they get fed I know they're in a safe place I don't have to stress out about where they are on a Friday night it's it it's really nice to have that here well that's great to hear because that's really what we try to do is give the kids a safe place to go and um you know be mentored and uh grow you know our motto is great future start here and uh you know that's what we try to do so there are so many things I feel like happening at the Boys and Girls Club right now I'm really excited to be on the board myself and to watch all of the changes and the the growth that is happening and I feel like it's rapid fire but it's slowly been building over the years um this year though Forbes Magazine top 10 for Charities and let's just talk about the people on our board it blows my mind the amount of work time thought and volunteerism that goes to this board you we've got a lot of great people on the board um you know we've got board members that have been on less than a year we have board members that been on two board members that have been on um since Inception you know Annie McDonald and Linda zammer um you know founded the club over 25 years ago and um you we got Paul dranos longtime board member Paul squasher longtime board member um you know really helped us get a strong nucleus to bring on you know you a great group of people that we've got coming in you know so many different people we've got you know Joe Callahan we've got uh Tom trette from over at Rockland Bank we've got Katie Martin with sbe's reality uh yourself of course and I know I'm forgetting some people right now oh my gosh because it's just so impactful act out in new seberry um we got Lyn mcra uh from M's Mills so we got a good everybody does a really good job of bringing something else to the table it's awesome in fact our board of directors just won an Eagle Award which is a top 10% board in in the country which is pretty outstanding that was quite an honor and and a surprise you know we've been really working hard um you know you talked about growth we've got plans for a teen center um on the table all right we've got the town of mashby uh is going to give us the land uh right next to the club we've done a real good job fundraising so far a lot of great donors and hopefully we're going to have more news about that uh in the near future I'm really looking forward to it so one of our big fundraisers is coming up and chili challenge has taken on a life of its own it is just so much fun and who doesn't want a good party in pomet under that big tent in the middle of winter where it's like what are we going to do hot chilly it is it is and going work excit about that it's uh April 12th this year uh tickets went on sale uh on the 14th and we've got 94 tickets left we've that's incredible over 350 we have great sponsors um you know L knif the uh distributive anous and Bush products in the area Mash B pops All State door uh Tios voder soube is helping us out uh dins the 99 so still looking for great sponsors uh you can go on the website the Boys and Girls Club website and you could purchase your tickets there they're $60 a piece and they're going fast they I know they're not going to last this week and then there's uh different sponsorship opportunities where you can help the kids out of the club and all this all the money from the chili pest goes right to the Boys and Girls Club there is no really overhead um you know to run this we've got a lot of great uh New Seabury giv us the spot down there at the pompet in and uh it's great fun grab Brothers play right we love that so much fun now amateurs can still enter correct in putting in their chili because Cindy's talking some smack here in the live feed she said I want to make some chili everybody's gonna lose that's it yep uh you can contact the boys and girls club or you can contact me at jim. KY the99 at Gmail and uh I'll get you the information you need to enter But yep the more chilies the merrier I really think that we have a ton this year I'm really excited about it in restaurants if you're watching and you're new to the area or you're like want to be involved please reach out to us because we will get you involved uh like we said the more the merrier we got a lot of people to feed so bring some more chili please I always like variety I like the ones that are different chilies we had some different I think there was like elk or something that lot of creativity yeah for sure the passion right of these people who make their chili and the competitiveness is just great that's my favorite though is the the people that are just the stay- atome we make the best chilies and then the the smack talk but I mean there are nice Awards too like some good table flare people get really into it and start campaigning for their chilies oh yeah big Lobby effort for sure so before that though we have a fun Irish Fest I I don't know how I got brought on board but I'm so glad it's one of the most fun events that we do for amazing things there isn't much that Jim Kylie doesn't do for a good party and a Good Charity so I appreciate you but we've got Irish Fest coming yep we come Irish Fest coming up on March 8th at new seaby uh you know it's to benefit Dana Farber all the money goes to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in research um it's sponsors the money used there goes through uh goes into uh my team's account uh in the Falmouth Road Race uh to support Dana Farber and we've raised you know hopefully this year is our 20th year running um started uh back in 1996 when a good friend of mine died of cancer ran the FMA Thro ra by myself and got some sponsors and it's just snowballed uh we got beat up a little during covid uh but we've come back uh we hope to break uh that $4 million mark this year and it really becomes you know the support of friends uh relatives perfect strangers but Dana Farber uh you know is a leader in battling against cancer and uh they've made some great inroads the money goes to unrestricted funds where you know you can doesn't the doctors can use it however they want right they can use it for the patient they can use it on research and um you know that's what allows them to be so creative and you know help people with individual uh plans to beat their cancer so I'm very proud uh of supporting them this Irish Fest is up F year it's at Newbury it's on March 8th uh we go from 2 to 7 o'clock we've got a great Irish band called a band called Ireland they're so good yeah they're awesome we got bag Pipers Canal School of Dance uh will be here again this year uh we've got you know El Knight will be sponsoring us with Guinness hence a little Guinness shirt little self-promotion you just were you were just in Ireland weren't you I feel like you're always on tour my friend I get lost once in a while and I travel over there yes I'm I'm a Wanderer I'm a I love it though I don't you have big plans aren you planning on tackling some crazy race or Mountain that's another thing that's so in right the day after after the Irish Fest I leave for uh Tibet and I'm hiking to base camp of um Mount Everest so this is insane what made you want to go and do this just a good friend spent uh has done it four times spent the week at the house this summer and uh started talking to me about it and you know you're like sure I'll just go to Tibet let's do it you are wild I've watched it on not Gio and I've watched just even how difficult conditions can be just at base camp yeah I think you're crazy my wife questions it every day you know she wants to make sure that everything's in order right before I go so well is she going to she's just letting you go on this crazy adventure she has she has to work yep so she's just let me go on my own with the boys so well this is quite a boy trip this is not like we're going to Vegas we're going to base camp at Mount Everest no big deal hold my Guinness exactly and strangely enough I am there on March 17th and I will be at the highest Irish pub in the world in uh nanche Bazar is the this morning we're talking to Jim Kylie the president of the boys and girls Club of Cape Cod and uh we're always looking for donations we're always looking for people to get involved honestly time spent with the kids in the club and any way that you can jump in and say yes and help out and bring some sort of specialty that you've got we will happily take you at the boys and girls club because it does take our village it does take a village you're so right Stephanie you know it is a Grassroots uh organization um you know we are supported by the local communities all throughout Cape Cod and uh the generous people who live down here so we're so thankful for that so March 8th New Seabury make sure you grab your tickets for that we're going to be celebrating um get those on you can get those on event bright um okay perfect and I'm gonna drop the link in the chat too just so that people can grab those handly if you're driving around or out your day and for both events you know if there are people out there who you know have a gift card or an item that they want to donate for the auction um good idea for either event uh we would love that because that's really where we uh make a lot of money because we have a lot of people generous people who come have fun and they want to buy stuff so you can you know send those uh information to jim.
