because is a show without popcorn okay and I might have an issue with popcorn oh oh yeah oh I have I have a mad love for popcorn yeah same that's we we just became best friends over popcorn what's up Eva hey Cindy so um I what has been going on since the last time we talked oh my gosh so many things have been going on um I joined the League of Women Voters of the cape cot area can we talk about this a little bit because I did not even know that this was an organization SAR Nish was so wonderful to send me to the back to business and they they they were tabling and before we were leaving you know it was right across from Cape Cod Winery I'm like what is going on over here and she just started handing me the facts she literally gave me a bag she's like do you even know what the questions are and I'm like no the questions are so good this year well I had pat benani on the show with me on Monday and he was talking about question five because it was a big one that's a Hot Topic button especially here in the service industry on the cape that one that is a big one yes it is a big one good morning Dave when you are retired there is no hump day what day we love you Dave hagner so how did you get involved in this organization what made you want to do it um Jean Morrison said join and I said okay yeah um so I went to last year I went to um when gallab boys and uh Sheriff Buckley were both um running for their seats I went to go watch um their uh their debate between their you know their the other people and great people by the way if you not had a chance even Rob stopped on by the mashby farmers market thank you very much for caring about our community I appreciate you showing up I like Rob yeah really nice yeah so I went to go watch that debate and what I really liked was the moderators you know they were asking questions that I would have asked not the same softball questions of how did you get here what do you care about blah blah blah blah blah I want to know what are you going to do when you get here like how are you going to do your job how will your job help us y you know and um I saw the moderator asked those questions I was like well that's great and the moderator was from the league so um I asked Jean about it who was there and she's like oh it's the League of Women Voters you should you should join I was like okay right didn't take that much to S take that much I like politics I I think politics are so incredibly important what what I love about politics is the community part yeah I think politics isn't just about like being in your office and you know pushing bills through I I think politics is is about people I think politics is about community and what matters to us the most ple is the presidential election important absolutely but what's more important is your local elections y I agree you know if you want a stop sign somewhere if someone's driving too fast if you want some um someone to slow down if you want to build an addition on your house if you want to build your community bigger than what it is you have to go through your town in order to do that and if you want people to support you you have to vote those people in and please register to vote so we have a uh vote we have an event coming up a get out the vote event your vote is your voice be heard it'll be this Saturday at the hyenas Village Green from 1 to 4m it's going to be food music we'll have some local politicians there we'll have a member uh a representative from the town clerk's office who'll be there helping people check your voter registration and help people get registered to vote the last day of registered to vote is October 5th so please please please come join us we're going to have a good time we're not just going to T you I promise this is a nonpartisan event so everyone is welcome well you say the word politics to people and people are like oh my God politics right but you are involved in politics like it or not you do need to know what's happening so that you can speak about it without just pushing somebody else's agenda or a meme on Facebook yeah I think it's actually important to know the business behind the things that are being driven right now yes and I'm an opinionated person so I want to know what I'm talking about I love I love politics for you though I really feel like you have such a fresh perspective on things and you kind of are just have this magical ability to say things in words that sometimes it's like oh yeah what she said that thing yeah popcorn for everyone right and I like it if she's voting for that I say yes to that PO you good popcorn you good popcorn oh my gosh so talk to me about some of the questions that uh we should be aware of okay the very first important so I'm gonna I'm gonna talk about this question in t language all right so come with me perfect so the first question is uh State Auditors authority to audit the legislator so when I read this thing I was just like what the heck does that mean yeah what it means is so every country every country every state in our country um has an auditor and then an auditor audits all the things that um your state government is using your money for and so the auditor came to Boston and was just like yo let's audit and the Bost was like nah and they like but we we have to audit you and Boston's like you don't audit us and it's been like that forever so now we have this uh law that we're trying to push forward to audit all of the things all of the money um all of the people yeah open up your books massach open up your books Massachusetts okay what your hideing it's it's a it's a very you know like when you go to someone's house right and you go into their house and the house is real real nice and then in the back is like this back room and the back room is like what that's kind of weird what's in there you things coming out of there you're just like what's what's back there and they're just like oh it's nothing it's my kitten that's not a kitten let us in the back do we want to know what's in the back though that's the question I don't know if I want to know I we want to open that can of worms I can't help myself I have to know which is why I would be the first one to die in a horror movie because I'm gonna open the door buddy what is it what is it did you hear that damn it t he said don't go in there I got to know what's the worst that could happen oh my gosh Evena said thanks for clarifying this question it was confusing so you know even if we've got one person that was curious about it we get into this like space and you feel like the pressure to just vote and leave yeah none of that not an ability to process or digest what the questions say so thank you for putting that in layman's terms so that we can understand what it is and voting is intimidating we're also going to have uh voting ballots and mock voting booths at the get out the vote event okay um so people it is intimidating if you've never been to vote and you see like this long piece of paper and all these Quest and you're just like I don't know and normally I would be like who hasn't been to vote but since I have an 18-year-old this year who is brand new brand spank and new voter and she's really excited about the process we got the mail and ballot and Weil like filled that stuff out for her we're like okay we're going to send it to your college you're going to be okay there and she's like yep I've got it so she's really excited to be a part of the process and she was asking about the questions and I'm like I've got nothing and then when you said can I come on and talk about the legue of Women Voters and the questions I was like yes yes for my own personal needs yes what's up thas thanks for joining us on the show we've got T here and we're talking about um some of these questions that are going to be on the ballot what's number two oh yeah number two is elimination of mcast as high school graduation requirement now I know a lot of parents and a lot of people who went through the mcast have been asking for this yeah because if you're studying to pass a test rather than studying to learn are you really learning right I do get that there needs to be a metric of your achievement it used to be the iOS back in my day um but it wasn't yeah requirement to do it it was just like a benchmark for your success and what you know um what they're finding and what they did find is that teachers were teaching to the test and so you weren't getting the information that you actually needed so I feel like it was a deficit a setback a little bit here and also what if you're a bad test taker I'm a terrible test taker horrible test taker yeah right yeah I need more time yeah absolutely so I think that eliminating this requirement and finding some other Benchmark is a really good idea personally I would I would vote Yes on the elimination of that but that's just me personally I would as well um I think it's important for us to teach our students like how to be um well rounded people as well as like how to learn how to study like so many people don't know how to study because they've been studying for this thing instead of studying for you know the things that they they like and they care about I find that when I study about something I like um it's fun and I get to retain it better yeah oh Jen phenomenal guest today good morning ladies good morning Jen hi Jen Christian I'm such a fan yeah I'm a big fan too so many kids have test anxiety and it's not a clear shot yeah so that's exactly that's exactly it and I've never heard one parent friend or otherwise say wow we really got to keep that mcast like that mcast let me tell you she came home ecstatic not one time we had to calm her down that's not happened so what else have we got all right question three is UN unionization for Transportation uh network drivers that is super important so now these people who work for um any transportation driver you can think will be able to unionize um anyone who works for um a government-owned company or I'm gonna say government owned company because I'm not sure if it's private company okay so I haven't you have to we're not talking like uber and lft we're talking just like yeah I I don't believe it's Uber any agency but um if you you ride drive for lo you should have a union I don't when I see people say no to unions I'm just like but why well statistically they take your money and they they group you which is not necessarily a bad thing I'm not anti- unions I'm not necessarily for unions either I'm just kind of like if it works for you and you need that then do that yeah right but shouldn't you have the option you absolutely should have the option and that's the point of number three is the option to be able to unionize yeah let's unionize right listen don't listen to me okay read the questions yourself exactly do not listen to me but that's well that's what I wanted to know like what is exactly it about so it's the option to unionize if you want to okay put it all together okay number four yep I'm excited about this one I'm trying to keep it cool all right limited legalization and regulation of certain natural psychedelic substance learn so uh we will be question four is asking to legalize uh philos cyen mushrooms um psychedelic mushrooms and most of it is for uh therapeutic uses yep but they're also trying to push it much like cannabis right now so you can U have a Phil ayon store you can have mushroom store you can grow your own mushrooms um but much like cannabis there's um you can only have a 12 foot x 12 foot area in your home um you also have to be you don't need that many mushrooms please don't have I'm just throwing it out at you not that I'm speaking from experience but I'm speaking from experience you don't need that many it's not going to work well they're finding a lot of great PTSD a lot of um other kinds of depression research uh that they're doing with mushrooms people are now having mushrooms to just change regular mushrooms like Lion's man and whatnot in their tees to change their um biochemical Dynamics exactly and they're seeing a lot of that in this research and you know what as far as I'm concerned if it Grow from the ground you can have it it's fine pretty much yes uh Laura wants to know the booklet indicates that number one says to audit procedures and policies it doesn't necessarily audit finances is that different I'm curious about that that's a great question so let's read it together uh the state auditor is independently elected by blah blah blah blah blah blah blah uh legislator I like how she works the state legislature is the only state entity refusing to be audited by the state auditor's office legislative uh leaders claim it is sufficient for the legislator to conduct audits of itself through the procedure private vendor through a procured private vendor however M's legislators continuously ranked as one of the least effective least transparent legislatives legislators in America so support for this initiative would help the state auditor's office shine and light a bright light on how the taxpayers dollars are spent to help increase transparency accountability and accessibility for the people of Massachusetts where is the money where to go where did it go so yes that is in fact in there for finances and not just policies but thank you for asking that Laura because we want to know absolutely thanks Laura um and so yes on mushrooms um number five yes on mushrooms so this was the one that we were digging into a little bit on Monday that we were talking about the fact of of tips boy oh boy so I was reading this last night so number five is minimum wage for tip workers what does that mean so this proposed law would gradually increase the minimum hourly rate wage of employers um hour wage an an employer must pay a tipped worker over the course of Five Years on the following schedule so um you have to pay a um a tipped worker 64% of the state minimum wage as of January 1st of 2025 and that keeps going up to 71% 73% by 2026 82% by 2027 91% by 2028 and 100% by 2029 making tip workers um 100% uh part of the minimum wage um workers in America so it yes yes no yeah we no no and that's why they've written it confusingly yeah because our tipped workers would no longer get their tips so that's not fair I know what um restaurant owners already have to do is bolster their wage if they don't make minimum wage so they report their tips right yeah so at the end of the day if you didn't make enough money your employer has to make up the difference anyway that's already a rule so what they're doing is basically trying to take away the tip portion of this and everybody gets the same wage and this is going to cause a major issue in the service industry period because you have people that make really good tips and are able to pay for their entire family's existence at some restaurants or maybe they've cultivated this group of customers for a decade that only come to them because they love them and this is what they've built this business for themselves within a business you know what I mean and so now what you're trying to do is level the playing field for them there so they're not going to stay in service and what you're going to find is less people wanting to be in service and business owners and I mean this is just our personal take on anyone who's ever worked in service industry before does not want to lose their tips no so this is a hot contested issue in which they're feeling like they wrote it to trick people that's how they get you so we're just curious what do you think about this exactly I used to be a waitress for for many years um the the best now I used Ruby Tuesday okay and they have the best salad bar they did have a really good salad bar salad bars have not they're ruined since Co oh my God the the pandemic we missed the salad bar the Airborne One it kind of slowed down the salad bar just a little bit but I remember like what that money was like I needed those tips I needed that money in order to pay my bills in order to you know feed I was going to say an animal I didn't have an animal at the time but myself she's the animal yeah I had to feed myself and I used to live off of burgers and hot dogs nobody could imagine you had a really big day of tips at Ruby Tuesdays and you got 200 bucks and your owner says no no you only get minimum wage and takes your $100 and gives that to the other people that work you worked with you would be unhappy we're gonna have an issue exactly no no you share that with the kitchen now bye-bye with the kitchen so that is what the question five is just to make sure that uh you are up to speed on what the legal ease is in there and I think that that is great that we're having this conversation I thought it was really important and I love the fact that that we've got the cap cot area League of women's voters uh how do people get involved with that I I think it's just really great yeah you can check out our website uh League of Women Voters of the cape cot area it's a long name I know but it's specific because there's so many different chapters of the League of Women Voters um you can also check out our Facebook we don't have Instagram yet but we're working on that and you can come to the event we'd be happy to have you and you can register there and it's just it's a fun it's a place where I feel like I can learn more about my community with other people who care about my community which is why I I became a member of The League winning V I think politics suits you elt I'd like to see you doing more of that thanks buddy I love it also you've got a big announcement to make yes Mo around a lot bang it out let's talk bang it out so I I'm happy to say last time we were here I was talking about um writing a a one one play I wrote it um and and finished it and it will go up at Cape c community college in February 2025 which I'm very very excited about the play is called well it's not really a play it's a one woman show so there's um storytelling and poetry because I'm a poet it is auto autobiographical of certain parts of of my life and there's poetry I'm going to have other artists involved of course uh helping with the background I want it to be honest and fun and weird like us like us yes perfect so look out for that it'll be febru I'm really really excited about it it's time I'm just pumped that you did it you know what I mean sometimes when you make these goals and you're like I you know I'm working on the this and you finished it so I can't wait to see the the whole production and see what it looks like I'm very excited yeah I'm definitely going to be following you how do people keep in with you because you've got a lot going on I do and then like you're an actual Artisan can we talk about the fact that you have an amazing skill I have no I was like you do what for real work I do I'm I'm a head Goldsmith I'm a Goldsmith at a small jewelry store and um I've been a Goldsmith for 16 years so cool I love it feel like everybody should have a skill that we don't know about but also something that you can make things I just it's incredible I do I love working with my hands and I just love making stuff and I get to play with an I get to work with an it's settling torch in a very safe area very safe way I saw that spin I saw that yeah it I get to burn the I get to bur I get to work uh very safely with fire uh it is really fun I get to to make things that people put in their families and part of their their Wills you know people jewelry for a long time and pass it down and feels good yeah yeah I love that I really enjoy it t thank you so much for joining me this morning thank you for talking about the League of Women Voters I know you actually have a job to get to I do have to go but other than all of those things what's going on that you that people need to know about you um I'm happy yeah which is great I'm happy in love I really enjoy following your social media you make me laugh every single day about just like the most random of stuff absolutely random stuff yeah yeah random stuff you and are like me and the fact that you're like you know what your body can eat and you will still ignore that um and then you talk about it openly which I appreciate lactose intolerant my friends I'm some of my most favorite posts some of my most favorite posts like had ice cream I knew it was bad but I wouldn't anyway I I had I had U ravioli last night oh boy why is it that when even as an adult you know that you the the outcome of the certain things and you're like I'm going to do it anyway and I was going to roll the dice I'm a gangsta I'm a pirate that's right I live life on the Wild Side okay because roli I'm only lactose intolerant when I want to be this is my son right now which is why I think it just makes me laugh he knows he's lactose intolerant and that he's like oh and I'm like what'd you have he's like half a gallon of milk I'm like dude you're moth to a flame that's just like ridiculous because you think like maybe maybe I'm not that allergic maybe I can just eat it I'll try it today it's been a month fine it fine I had some ravioli with extra cheese yesterday oh my God I woke up this morning like oh God oh God ready for our morning show appearance T I freaking love you so so much we've got Marty rmel here for the greater highness chamber and she's going to go to work right now so we're going take a quick break we're going to shift and uh we'll be right back and just like that the power the power of streaming um yeah we'll leave it at that we're actually on the radio on the back end so um everybody got to hear this on Lemon ado.com the back end the back end you're welcome hey Marty the life good morning it's traffic heck this morning is it really bad out there already uh just one accident and then that blessed school bus get stuck behind oh yep it's a different time of year well good morning I know I missed you missed you too I'm sorry I uh blew you off last Friday I was definitely not feeling great I've had many women tell me I've had a headache first thing in the morning it's all good no worries about I totally get it I feel it was like self-induced on when on Wednesday I won person of the year congratulations and I had a little bit too much prco that evening that was you that was me all those posts Tik Tok blew up I don't know that happen two days of like this is the conversation I was just having with te like we know what we can and we can't have at our age and I decided oh that's we're celebrating bleep that I won't feel terrible tomorrow and boy I feel terrible it took me three days to recover but people CH tripping over the bottles trying to get out of the room right I don't I don't bounce back like that anymore just we don't we bounce off the floor maybe 100% yeah I didn't bounce off the floor either I just laid there half dead but I'm here I'm feeling great today this is a Stephanie alert that's it watch out so what the heck is new with you oh busy summer we had such great weather so many tourists came down a lot of bus tours um I love the bus tours it's a lot of older folks coming up here too from parts of the countries the South especially um Love The Cape the accents the draws the conversations um I saw all of the bus tours rolling into the Irish village I happen to be um playing some music in an event for Mas cops and uh I just saw all these buses and I'm like Bobby what is all this and he's like oh yeah he feeds them gets them in and out it's unbelievable it is really incredible the stuff that you might not know that is going on in your town I had no idea that that's what we how we were servicing people I had a funny tale yesterday yeah yeah what these two ladies Deep South must have been in their early 80s I'm guessing ladies you're watching I Love It ladies of Le deep southern draw yes and one says to the other look at the Buns on that boy and I walked by and I'm like I'm gonna keep walking this is bad keep going I was so embarrassed were you the Buns uh yeah I guess so you were the Buns bar yeah hogi rolls actually about that you I was so embarrassed I was like I'm G to keep walking I'm not sure what to say about the object of lustful 83 how comforting is that right hey you know what you still got it somebody cared yeah well they were bif focals I just love the fact that they use the word buns look at the Buns on that boy like oh my God I'm bopping down south this weekend I'm going to see my girlfriend in Charleston so I'm definitely very excited to to be reminded of the Southern times that I spent down there me we need a hangover prep well God no I'm not going to get really I'm looking forward to sleeping and just catching up with girl talk nice there'll be no sleeping then yeah probably not well although she's like one of those people that watches The Real Housewives I I'm not so that's the only time I ever watched The Real Housewives is when Meredith and I get together and she's like Stephanie you gotta watch it you gotta watch it how are you not watching this like oh I don't know I have 47 jobs yeah do you fast forward right no I just let it hang out we laugh I talk over them it really does matter there not much going on exactly fine so uh you survived your second summer um fireworks were fabulous yes uh weather cooperated of course um now of course not I know um but that just accentuates the foliage sort of accelerates I should say so it's coming faster a lot of stuff happening October fests um porch Fest sandwich Fest is having an event Mash Commons has an October Fest we have um on Sunday October 6 the cus Beach in hyanis we have our calus car meet and that's basically a bunch of car enthusiasts getting together it's a mini version of a car show what we do from calus speech we go up to Main Street and parade down Main Street up and down a couple times then congregate back again at calmus beach for about three hours and I'm hanging out with you on that one right yeah we're popping some music we have some Bail Bonds arranged we're all set to go perfect maybe needed well you know it's all good hopefully it's a nice day um the past few Octobers have been eh May right but uh but we're going to not going with everything's fun yeah I feel as if we deserve a nice October because I don't even know what's going to happen later on in the year but this is my favorite time of year it's Festival season it's a crazy time um I just can't wait till after um election day just to get by all this stuff but then again the way things are going we may have an extended before the results are in so it would be a delayed reaction plenty of time around here at least here in massachusett we're not pum well some some stations Boston area we get Pummel the New Hampshire commercials president stuff I was talking about that with Hank last week it's like why they dump that inventory of New Hampshire commercials and we're like we don't even vote for these people I now don't even like this person and I don't even know them because they've shoveled all of these ads at me and we're not voting for you there's a pop up on your YouTube feed is that I've seen Kamala and and the Donald pop up like G the last thing I want to see is commercials and politics you know what I just take it now as pure on entertainment as to what comes our way in that race it was nice to to sit here and talk to te about the League of Women Voters of the Cape Cod area and some of the questions and some of the stuff that they've got going on um that's the Saturday that is this Saturday so if you're not registered to vote maybe you've got a newly 18yearold or a 19yearold that hasn't uh decided to to register to vote or maybe you've got questions on any of the questions I know that t did a really good job of like bite sizing the information for us but if you want to dig deeper into what all of that is because you know there's always an underlying I feel they write them underhandedly on purpose sneak them in I don't like who's in charge of writing that stuff lawyers right lawyers it's like an IRS book trying to find through what's going on it's like you figure out what's going on but U well the one question a lot on my server friends the question five is very very it's a hot bad topic well that's it t rdit and she immediately was like oh is it um five is it a yes and I said well actually I think it's a no but I mean you have to decide for yourself right how you feel about it but I believe those booklets have come out this week from the state um updating so really to look take a look at that it really impacts the U the servers and restaurants um I can't make an endorsement here or not but uh but do your research on it and talk to your server friends or restaurant owners because it really will impact them um and I'm not sure that's you know not the best move to what I what I'm frustrated by is they're finally starting to to uh broadcast or the the proponents of this to let people know what this is about but um we got to get moving on this you got to get moving on this I mean just let people know because uh it's a very very important thing especially Massachusetts right now with the economy and jobs we're all trying to keep going again without paying uh already we're paying what 20 30% more for groceries well that's exactly pay $32 for a hamburger think this goes through I mean it's just uh you know where is it going to go from here exactly at um today is National open the m magic day open in the magic day that has many variations on the PG rating of this show it's also daughter's day so I post a photo of both of my girls and uh just encouraging you to drop a photo of your daughter maybe you're a mom and you just like are like these are my girls either way celebrate your daughters today tell them how much you love them if you if if you got them even if they're difficult to love mums difficult to love it could be a song right I we just wrote something here today it's also National Lobster day ah when I was writing My Trivia this week and uh we have a Full Slate of trivia pretty much every single day I'll be at the sandwich trerna tonight from 6 until 8 come and see me uh I saw that it was National Lobster day and I've been obsessing about a freaking lobster roll all week long it's one those with ours too so that means it's good it's good this is the time to have the lobster absolutely absolutely I've been trying to get over and I'm not giving an endorsement Andor otherwise but I hear Pink Door kitchen is absolutely delicious and mash p and I'm trying to get over there to you we will see how that goes it's been on my list of places to try for most of my well half my life I was allergic to shellfish so I was getting algae shots every week then it progressed on after several years to every two weeks then months now there's no worries so I discovered Lobster about 10 years ago in shellfish most of these years I couldn't have clams oysters that's kind of sad it's limiting it was limiting well not now we just announced our clam jam we are having a big festival with the kog Republic November 17th inside of our Mash becom a little farmers market that could we got a couple of weeks left of the regular farmers market so please come and see us on Sundays uh just to grab your regular food and head on with your day we've really had quite a lot of Success With It people are really excited about it I've been watching you on social media this farmers Market's blown up really congratulations thank you so much it's really that's that's an e forall grad here right see I know well I love our eforall group I you know T was eforall we had Jen Christian who bopped in over here and I'm trying to get my friend Cindy over there to get our taco truck going oh gez right best invention ever food trucks we love the entrepreneurial Spirit here on the cape and I think it's out of necessity because you know it is the time of year where things get leaner for some people yeah and to make ends meet we are picking up to three jobs and trying to figure out how we're GNA sustain living here in this beautiful place mhm and I know that if you've got ideas for the blue economy epherall wants to hear them they are doing a pitch competition and they award money for your great ideas and um it's also a group that doesn't just like let you pitch and then leave you alone people come out of the Woodworks to be like I heard your idea what if you did this or how about this it's really a great idea think tank the group itself is amazing too because you have such a support structure even after you take program yeah um it's like another being in the Chamber of Commerce world but seeing this happen uh it's just a wonderful thing another support structure what you need yeah instead of getting thrown out the in the wilderness here here you go yeah the big corporations try to sword fight you along the way so to speak to get you out of their pa their path can you talk about how the importance of the chamber in everybody's town because I know everybody's got their own chamber but also we've got the k-pod chamber so that might be confusing to some people small businesses if you're wondering where you should belong or what benefits um and how to flex your benefits cap CL chamber is great with advoc advocacy and and stuff that's the lobbying for all of us here in the cape they've done amazing things look at the representation they did for us on the bridges yeah going to DC uh check their website subscribe to the newsletters the local Chambers the 15 local Chambers we're the boots on the ground so to speak speak in each town and so much is going on we actually meet every two weeks we call ourselves the local chape cambers local Cape Chambers collaborative I love it lc3 and uh we I we call it a Chambers Anonymous meeting too sometimes but uh sometimes you got a event that's right but uh you know we we share ideas and stories we help and support each other and a lot of times many chambers will network from different towns together you know sandwich in in the canal region sometimes went to one last year I just talked to Maria Aliva because she you know Canal day had to get this is a major Endeavor you've got to move from one day to the next yes and I my heart went out to where I was like uh it at to the detriment of my own event I'm going to help you Marie because I know how much planning how much work how many people are involved in the movement of just one day and she made it happen the pr got out and people just just you know it's such a popular event so people are very interested in in knowing what's going on anyway yeah not just the folks but the the the attendees the the vendors getting everybody moved and and another day at least it's another day right if it was another week you got all the food issues and stuff luckily it worked and I'm very happy to see that yeah exactly because that's tourism that's part of the the lifeblood that we have here on the cape whether you like them or not we need your money we're running out of time too exactly we need your money that's a hashtag of everything it's an IR bit we need your money that's it um you know we're running out of time to get out with with the kids too we after Halloween it's too cold so then we're all stuck inside and I Know Jack Nicholson and The Shining it's just it's plays in the back in my brain I'm like PR no so right you see little kids slicing through the door get me out ma is that what's going to be happening right now that's exactly what's going to be happening 11 billion dollar I read yesterday is the Halloween industry this year is what they're they plan on spending we we plan on spending on Halloween so that's insane yeah no one's ever replicated Vincent Price's laugh from that Michael Jackson's thrill never no one's ever replicated that no it's that's it's not able to do again no he was an icon he was a one-of-a-kind kind of guy right there three sauces fresa green red and spicy remember me Cindy I want your taco truck so bad we have to talk tacos I know I love it it's amazing I've had the where was I um Upstate New York one time the breakfast Truck Tacos breakfast T what yeah anything probably a beer can in there just just yum absolutely delicious I saw that um Dick Van DJ was supposed to be a presenter at the emms and he's going to be missing I mean I understand the man is 98 years old but he is also a personal National Treasure what is he you 97 98 wow 98 years old and he was still jumping on desks I don't know whether that was CGI or not and the Mary Poppins reboot that they had had but I mean what was he 95 I can't even like walk down the stairs two at a time please he's fabulous have you seen the Frankie Valley reals is he lipsyncing or not is he lipsyncing is even trying to lip sync he has no facial expression it's catatonic almost but he sounds just like his in his recordings from 30 40 years ago Hank had mentioned it to me that Frankie Valley was touring and everyone was complaining about how awful it was but then somebody posted the meme and I was like oh you've got to be kid so it's a real and he's not even trying to lip sync he's just really holding him M like he's so old and frail and feeble at this point that they just play his music and he walks around the stage being off it's like me at spin class like Stephanie you're not you're not even doing what everybody else is doing what's Happening Here me at boot camp that would be spin class wouldn't work be more like a wobble and roll in but uh if you would ever take in one of the boot camps that we used to do over at the basement gym as I lovingly referred to it over at Cap Cod Fitness uh Tom who is our health was our health inspector in hyanis would always be off we'd be up Tom would be down we'd be left and Tom would be right this is the way this looks that's my dance moves too what just off well just like Shrek wobbling around or the Chipmunk from cat Shack that' be me to or the I should say it's chipmunk season now so I I embrace it I fully embrace the being of the off I was talking to Trish the other day and we were T we called ourselves the ners because it's only an eight count and everybody always wants to go to nine so we've now dubbed this club the ners I love it we're just a little bit off everybody it's okay the FDA has finally approved the first at home flu vaccine at home at home in by injection yeah are we can we be trusted with this I swear one of these days we're just gonna you want a vaccine here's a syringe do it yourself can we tr get rid of cab request you just take your own blood work and ship it in that then or or we scan it in that's the way it's gonna go she say this to the doctor insurance companies I should say somebody's going to have to oversee it the doctors are overworked Yeah by by by Zoom yep exactly oh you need CPR here is how to do this it's all um no it's a flu mist so I I feel like we've already done that before where we like up the nose or whatever I mean I don't feel like we could overdose from it could we she's high on flum she won't be in today she's misting she went from vaping to misting what's with that this is what I've done to myself oh my God you have to get a separate misting sound effect then oh my gosh and then the poor Pope has the flu the poor guy well I don't even know which pope it is anymore I don't keep track I don't either he's always wearing the same party robes right oh my God he's not anos pit or something maybe he was what else is going on in the world of Marty I know you got your Aruba trip coming up Aruba in December and if everything works out if I can make this announcement I will we will be broadcasting here I'll be broadcasting there to here Marty just wants to rub our nose in his paradise he wants to share it with us I talked to a few fol to the resort and uh we can make it work I think we can so I definitely want to feel like I'm on a vacation a tropical one at that especially in the month of December I feel like we could all just take a little departure from everything that's going on in life and stare at the ocean for a bit it'll be the backdrop I think I sent sent you a picture that's even if you turn Marty an ey on and then turn the sound off and just enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of where Marty is there's a lot of new englanders down there um why is it why do you think it's such a hot bed of New England ISM every day is is 82 to 90 degrees perfectly perfect weather it rains maybe what 15 20 inches a year yeah uh and and I will say we did have a rain shower last time I was there it rained three inches in half an hour but it that was it it was like a Florida rain storm exactly and uh people saying Florida it's okay well I shouldn't say that because they get some rain coming now yeah exactly just little bit bit Tennessee gonna get well um just perfect weather it is expensive um so there's a lot of websites that uh will give you some deals but um you know I had someone come last year come up to me and say Marty Bell how are you I'm like who are you I have no idea who you are but then being in the chamber world you meet a lot of folks that's this U you know a broadcast here people see you do you guys have beef like Anchor Man do you like fight with other Chambers you're like this is mine nah that's what barza for we're misting now yeah right speaking of misting apparently there's a new Wellness Trend called emotional showers okay I'll let you go with this one I'll just tread lightly now emotional showers are the latest in Wellness but they're not what you think they are I wasn't going there but that's okay no going into the shower and crying is basically that's an emotional shower with the water we just going in the shower high-end hotels and trendy spas around the world are offering emotional shower services combined with thermotherapy hydrotherapy chromotherapy aroma therapy and much more of excitement of calm seeking clientele emotional showers Jesus I've I've seen um these scream rooms where people just go into a soundproof booth scream for like 10 seconds rage rooms scream rooms yeah we've got an axe throwing facility if you'd like to go over to House of hatchets Cliff Hi how are you we're going to be starting to do karaoke there October 18th so go and join Curtis he'll be leading the charge with karaoke for us here at lemon Ado throw some axes sing some songs I feel like that's therapeutic it could not rage room not scream rooms and not emotional showers I like I've heard it all now Stephanie tno with an emotional shower right see how that would work 10 Common pieces of travel advice you should actually ignore you're the travel guy right I mean you deal with tourism all day every day and airports 10 things to ignore yep travel delays Tik Tok and Instagram what you would post Tik Tok and Instagram because everybody shows the their best of whatever it is is not necessarily the real some of my favorite Tik toks and Instagrams are the ones where people show the people trying to get the shot yeah and how crazy and not common beautiful and Serene it actually looks on the other side of this piece of photo I've seen so many Tik Tok videos actually my first time in Aruba um I'm in the back and this girl with with a tripod doing a video in a bikini with threads yeah she's dancing and doing remakes and I'm like wait a minute I'm in the background of this Shrek with suntan lotion on what if she goes viral and there's Marty in the back maybe you're the reason why she went viral yeah I don't think so the mother was directing her it was like there's a young girl dancing in a beong bikini and I'm look in the background this is a great visual so awkward if anyone's ever visited New York City like it's just you're in everyone else's Tik toks there's just someone will all of a sudden break out into a flash mob and you're like where am I what's happening I need to go home do flash karaoke just take got littlex they still call him boom boxes those are available still those are not available someone actually was surprised the other day when I busted one out for an event and they were like what I said you asked for it yeah I've got the archives over here I've got a real toore machine P was looking for one I have one oh telling him I still have cuts from from editing absolutely I have scars for Life yeah for Life lost sensation actually and some of the fingers right slicing oh my goodness maybe some fun little tidbit that you did not know Marty used to be in radio no right Cheers Cheers Cheers we survived we're still we're visual now we W worse we don't need just one medium we have all of the mediums platforms the as we get older we need platforms that's it we don't boy do I ever look like Frankie Valley soon the sooner mimic right you different voice coming the sooner you book the cheaper it will be this is not necessarily always true man with flights over the past few years uh last minute deals Sometimes they used to be a website last minute travel yeah you get some amazing deals I went to Aruba one time back I think it was 2 2000 normally was, 16600 1700 I went for 400 yeah but it was like day before have no time just whatever they have left over they want to sell that's what I ended up I I did I got a weird flight it's like Saturday to Monday and um it was $84 round trip we can you get that right and my friend's gonna pick me up and I'm stay at our house my husband's like you're gonna spend so much money I'm like I'm not it's $84 he's like let me know when you book I'm like I already did even if I'm steerage I don't care if they treat me like a suitcase stick me in somewhere the one thing that I can't do anymore that I used to do I used to travel and just buy my clothes and stuff down there oh just jump on that light huh nothing go really byy there no laundry nothing just throw it out when you're done a couple of you know dress slacks and shorts and t-shirts you're so my husband he does that anyway he'll bring a suitcase full of stuff and then when we get there it's like oh I gotta buy socks oh I Gotta Buy underwear I'm like what did you pack what is in there without fail yeah he does it on purpose I think um don't travel during season also true well I feel like our season here on the cape now has become longer on both ends and so I like traveling the shoulder Seasons period I don't like going to places where they're so extremely touristy I think we've gone from uh shoulder to SEC second summer now I like that word better especially the past few weeks been amazing weather too we've been very lucky it was amazing until it wasn't avoid tourist traps yeah that's not a problem for me I don't have a problem with that travel insurance isn't worth it no it's really not but I mean now that I say that to you do not do not listen to me something there not endorsement by step correct I'm just saying I won't do it booking your own is cheaper than booking with a travel agent it depends on what you're trying to get if if you're familiar with the Lake location the resort you're going to or whatever possibly I'd go by that route but if some some other place I'm going to Europe I always consult with a travel agent just we did eight countries in three and a half weeks in June and um it was awesome up until like the very last day my husband did a really good job of planning things and organizing things and using completely public travel we didn't have a car we didn't have any of the other things um the amenities that we're normally used to so it was definitely um a learning experience a curve I've never used a travel agent and I'm actually going to be trying one with unique experience and I'm excited to see what she does she's planning a lemonade o Cruise oh that's awesome I know and I'm just really excited to let somebody else do the heavy lifting so I guess it's kind of like what you want for an experience do you want to not have to think and just be whisked away on your things or are there for an adventure right I've used travel agents before the microphone um you know places I'm not familiar with something happens a missed flight uh sometimes those connections are tough you want to take a vacation and not use your brain that's okay you over missed right yeah you never know P Miss there'll be a new thing coming up for you that's it always bring a carry-on I 100% agree even if it's with one change of clothes bring a carry on you never know what's going to happen to your luggage and your prescriptions I disagree with this next one avoid all Street Foods the best places sometimes it really depends on which where you're going and what country you're going and are you used to their amibas oh my God amoeba free taco right that' be great imagine that sign of the window we have no amibas it's all good done you're good here avoid all Street Foods these are kind of practical travel stuff here uh exchange your money at the airport really a good idea uh just to have a couple of dollars in whatever cash um currency but most people since we're cashless almost everywhere but tips and some societies are still cash right um think when we got to Brussels there was pretty much cash we had none and I'm like what which currency do you take I don't even know are you the are you the Euro are you the Euro we take Visa right no like when we were in Budapest um it was like the forign or whatever we have to talk about that one of these days one of the countries that lived to visit I had no idea what the currency was I had no idea what the exchange was the coins are all weird sized their Penny was like the size of an eraser head like what what why why is such a waste of metal but it was an interesting experience that was like the only place and it it says to avoid public transit I disagree I just made an entire vacation out of using public transit and it was actually functional what are the reason behind that I wonder it says there are some places where you should always choose to take a taxi over public transportation especially if traveling alone or in a dangerous area I totally understand that situation I've had clients tell me they've spent a long weekend in London and are planning to travel by Uber everywhere I tell them to consider the bus instead public transportation can end up being more reasonable in comparison with taxis I mean so yeah you have to you have to really do your research and decide where it is that you are like where in Spain where they got rid of a whole bus stop because they hate their tourists right now did you see that in Barcelona no they literally took one of the bus stops like basically like they don't want the tourist using it great anti- tourism in Barcelona great like so the French started doing these Tik Tock rails like come here we like you we'll take your money and be mean to your face but we won't make disappearing bus routes if you want a people watch take the T over drive the go on the bus that's also just and Jen says travel with your car seat thank you yes maybe have an adult car seat Marty you need a car seat imagine the car seat I think it'd be pretty badass two wheer lazy boy you're a car guy you would make that car seat pretty cool for sure the miss I love it what else is going on at the chamber in hyenas that we need to know about our annual meetings coming up uh on Wednesday OCT why do we have annual meetings what do we do at the annual meetings we brag about all the stuff we've done in the past okay it's an update to our membership and also a lot of every year A lot of times we have new new board members that are joining the board and some are terming off and being a chamber member you actually have the voting Authority or capacity to vote on these new members so we have I believe three or four joining our our board next year so at this annual meeting you'll be that's exciting anointing them I love it uh I'm a board member of the mash P chamber we had a little bit of a shakeup and uh we are rolling with it good I'm excited to see what happens and shout out to Julie who's gonna be on our show October 2nd awesome to talk about her her new Endeavors and kind of you know her great achievements that she did with the mash B chamber because she did a lot of great work we all met a couple weeks ago for lunch and she told us and very happy for her yeah yeah I'm excited for what she's going to do and I'm excited for what Mash B board is going to be doing also so uh it it's not necessarily a bad thing when you move from one space to another and um I think that she left us in really good shape uh definitely look if you're a small business at your local Chambers to see some of the benefits of being a chamber member and really to engage them I think that there's a lot you can do together absolutely I met someone last night we had a business after hours of the Island Cafe Express at Bron second restaurant and um Love last night uh she was just started a new job in May um we talked she worked the room uh she wanted prize raffle prize but just to get you know this is how you you know announce yourself get used to to the different members that we have and to tell people what you're doing but again that book of business I'll get some cards you'll tell someone I met someone another best way to do this and and a lot of Chambers we have um joint chamber events a lot of times too just to shake things up a bit so we've got a lot of really great organizations here on the cape we are blessed in the fact that you're never alone I know it's really stressful and it feels like you're alone sometimes in your small business but there are so many great organizations like your local chamber like eforall like score like ccyp like we can we have amplify POC there are so many great groups um especially on the Village Green highy a lot of events the League of Women Voters this Saturday um The Pride event was a couple weeks ago that was a great event I heard it was awesome I was um showing up I had to DJ a birthday party at Alberto so I saw a lot of the people coming into the parking lot and chatting and they were like oh my gosh it was really good this DJ was really good we had a great day and uh lots of kids lots of families I really love an event that's all inclusive like that that just everybody has a good time and goes out and they're outside I mean it's really we have so many wonderful common spaces that we're underutilizing uh open streets is coming up a little the 19th Sunday the 19th so talk about what open streets is so basically uh Main Street hus is closed and um uh we've got everything from Street Walkers to DJs good Street Walkers Street Walkers not Jay Walkers that's that's you and I walking totally different I know JT's gonna be there yes and Angel I believe uh there's so many vendors it's hus openen streets.com I believe is the website I don't have my cheat sheet with me today but um several thousand people attend main on this event it's just the main Street's closed you vendors food trucks yeah all the restaurants are open it's hopefully it's warmer again so you'll be able to enjoy everything the green there's a lot of stuff to play in the green with for the kids I can't express to you enough what I have definitely taken in this entire summer of working every single Sunday with the community and in the public is the fact that it is really a nice place to get to know people you are we really do have a nice sense of community and it's it's a different feeling when you're out and about with people I things can be lonely we're heading into the winter months where you know we need to check on each other and make sure that we have people that are in our Network because it does get lonely it gets dark if you're a single person if you're an older person um if you're a single mom struggling to like just get anything done with your life having that one place of community and Gathering is really really important and you might not think so but after you go to an event you realize how truly important it is my first week on the job two weeks afterwards Co started yeah so for almost a year I worked virtually so now this ended which is seemed like 20 years ago but it's not three four years ago now I saw the first open streets we had uh it was an October of 2021 I believe we started again well they started again I should say we help promote the event um just amazing seeing everybody out yeah we were so withdrawn from everybody yeah I'm so excited that it's been back and like this is the first year that we're all like fully back to and we're like oh well bleep your Co stay at home don't bother me then and there are Co there are there's Co rates there's medications now and there's a protocol to take care of this so you know people unfortunately um have flu which is this basically the largest stronger flu just things we just have to deal with yep Cindy be a part of the chamber we would love to have you she said I want to be part of the board I'll bring fun to the chamber funer you're in line absolutely I I definitely agree that you'll bring a lot of fun to that I think we should start the prco misting concept I need a break it right back just a Mist just for a second just a Mist that's all a hashtag don't be afraid it's just somebody's missing she'll be right back oh my God so I she's missed not pissed I was laughing the other day because I saw that there they've got this like new tiny 3D printer or whatever where apparently supposedly in the next decade we're all going to have our own 3D printers and we're going to be all be making our own Parts interesting if you know how it works if you know how the machine works or how the thing you're fixing to make the parts for works we don't know how any of this works I want to put a toner in right now yeah I can't even fix my printer okay I just learned how to fax the other day don't give me any green what is that fa I had to fax something I was like I don't know I don't when was the last time you fa some probably often because you're in an office sometime well I have an app on my phone the machine I don't have right but actually I picked up the phone one day and there that fax tone I'm like what the heck is that exactly things that our children will never ever we want to hear ever like an EBS tone or actually it's an EAS tone correct correct so that's right we did change that it only happens every once in a while it's that weird noise you hear on the radio sometimes where we're checking our emergency broadcast systems so I worked at a radio station uh 1982 don't have that at Lon and I hit and I hit that button by mistake no you didn't and they didn't know how to shut it off and the mirror of the Town calls what's going on um um um nothing nothing it was on 30 seconds I'm like um was that the end of your radio career for a little while think I went back to a radio after that it's okay A what is that tone that's awesome you never touch the button Marty I didn't know I had someone else in the studio I thought that was the microphone switch but no it wasn't I would always used to panic when stuff like that happened especially when I was do in radio it was just like one of those scary moments you're like what if I do it wrong it's a button or have you noticed I put on my beverages far away because having a board there's no board there anymore oh well I'm just hands folded just in case I love that I appreciate it we're gonna be doing our shows over at wkkl and we'll be on the dial 90.7 wkkl please join us um some of these Thursdays we're working with some of the students and uh full classes over at fores it's really exciting to see the breakdown of students because it is students of every single Walk of Life in every age bracket and every um possible inclination and it's really cool I'm a member of the cape cot Technology Council and we have our first Friday meetings every Friday at the school yeah and the cape cot call for's and um just walking driving through the campus wow look at this it's a whole different culture different world again it really is I'm excited to see what this new program of free college brings to it you got to pass though guys just throwing that out to you you got to get good grades not everything is free but the radio station is also online so you can pick that up anywhere too yep absolutely and we've got elastic Glam uh Seth's show that we rebroadcast here on Lemon Ado on Fridays and he just scored me an interview with Kate Pearson of the b52s who is now a cape Cotter wow so she's got a new album coming out and uh she's going to meet me over at Mash PTV and we are going to do a little interview which I'm excited for so be looking for that and our partnership with mash P TV as it grows definitely I'm telling you get out there and engage your community it's really important Marty thank you so much for being on the show any last parting words you want to give last parting words no misting vaping actually a local C cable TV is also great I'm on the board here for the Kate Media Center in data sport so um local cable shows uh online between the programs the town meetings there's a lot of information on there too and a lot of times you can join these media centers for a very inexpensive rate and get your own show y uh and bring your your ideas to to the marketplace and to the people just let them know what you're doing too I love it and uh just get involved I guess that's our parting words to you today parting right L be over at masb TV uh tomorrow with Hank and uh Marty check in more often I will try not to blow you off my prco Miss I've got a headache I won't headache you ever again I promise oh my goodness have said that to me before have a great day everybody we'll talk soon take care oh poor Marty felt so bad and I actually did feel so bad and I couldn't open my
