coming at you live from Buzzard's Bay nothing in Buzzard's Bay that's not true there's no places in Buzzard's Bay and we're about to see it we're here we're doing it hey good morning well it is uh I hope that everything's on I'm waiting for confirmation that we have audio so that that would be good uh hi everyone welcome to Old places Lauren thank you welcome thank you so much well it's been a while since I commuted to work this morning so how was the Birch traffic well first off I woke up this morning I was like oh it's snowed yeah and I'm like oh is Stephanie gonna come today it's snowing out that's I was like I was like oh Cliff will you start my car he's like seriously but then we go outside and it was it was fine it really was fine it's not that bad it's just a couple of extra minutes until I get to the bridge I had to fight Bridge traffic to get here I'm going around the rotary I'm like is Stephanie stuck on the rotary behind me somewhere I was you I definitely was um but I you know I made a couple of moves this morning they just clog it up no one knows how to use a rotary listen the person on the rotary has the right away can we just make a whole radio show about how to drive around the rotaries on Cape Cod we'll be here all day we would be here all day we're off Cape so this is like a vacation we Cape adjacent I mean I feel like Buzzard's Bay is still considered the cape although people will fight you on that well then you've got onset and wam where is the line everyone where is the Cape Cod line I'm just curious let us know in the comments what you think where is the line I'm trying to tag out places um Lauren's a little quieter but it's listenable well should I swap microphones with Lauren maybe I don't know here trade with me here you go how about that I love having an off-site cameraman this is perfect I know well Tim is also here too gotta give a shout out to Tim hey Tim who's been comic relief this morning for sure comic relief all day every day so talk to me about this space how long have you been here I mean it looks like you've been here forever the amount of work you've done in the last month is incredible it has been a whirlwind honestly I don't don't think anyone could have imagined that it was going to happen so fast but I mean when you meet the perfect partner with the same drive and the same motivation and the same passion it really just helped make things come together real fast well talk to me about how this whole thing came up because I know that you've been looking for spaces and you've been reaching out and yeah it's been a process of kind of trusting it um manifesting and I know that sounds crazy but I kid you not I put this out on Facebook I said look this is what I'm looking to do I've been pushing this for a few years yeah and it turns out Tim has also had the same kind of vision so those of you who don't know my business partner Tim picket he was the phone man or is the phone man next door for 10 years at CN and he sent me a message and he was like I'm not really sure what I can offer you but I have money and I have ideas and so we met up like we like those things come over well the next day I'm like are you punking me is this a joke is this really happening cuz I know yeah you you and I had talked about it and we were kind of like what whatever I'm like go with it you know if you because we want go a place together exactly and then um yeah and then I got the knock on the door and I followed up and we talked and now we just have this fantastic collaboration so we're here on LinkedIn we're here on YouTube tell everybody what AIS is because I think that there's always so much there's so much going on here that I think that seems like I don't know what it seems just like oh wow there's a lot going on there Lost in Translation um but oplis is a collaborative art studio and music Lounge um we basically collaboration is the biggest thing yeah we have taken ideas from the community over the past few years and really tried to incorporate it into this space so our space is Ever Changing we're hosting different events we have have indoor markets we have vendor Cubbies where they can showcase their products um it's just a little bit of everything we host birthday parties we do art classes we mic Open Mic I mean it's just it's a lot of fun and we're constantly taking suggestions from people well uh you came up with something I really enjoyed uh crafty Yi can you please talk to me about it yes 125 Main Street is the birthplace of crafty um we always have crafts in karaoke we in the light loue right now but we have music loue down the end um and we turn that on at nighttime and it just it's a whole vibe yeah we like to do a lot of fun and different things um all ages all abilities there's something for everyone to come and find their Joy yeah I I mean you're doing such a great job in the community of Outreach uh whether you're a kid or you're a grownup that needs some fellowship I know this time of year on the cape gets really lonely uh the weather is not great people don't want to be outside and we've got a lot of single people lonely people people looking for just company sometimes right and then I mean one of the great programs that we offer here is from 11 to one it's adults only Lounge so you can either come by yourself you can bring a friend you can hang out in the lounge you can create some art play games we've got cards that's so nice I mean think about it if you have a lunch break hour and you're within 15 minutes you can come or have your lunch and like I don't know play a game of cards or just be around other people that are not your work people play a little chess whatever it is that you want to do yeah disconnect leave your worries at the door come in have a good time just forget about everything that's going on in the moment you know and it just it feels good yeah just play yeah just play play it a places exactly lot people ask about what o plac this really is I know you had um you had questioned before and and just to break it down real quick life is good Playmakers yeah they had always taught us to have a no places in our classroom which is an oasis type play Space okay and it was a place where kids could go and regulate themselves whenever they were feeling out of control because you can't learn when you're feeling that way yes Robert that is a pizza pillow and then oh sure is I'm trying I'm trying not to throw her off her roll a little bit I was waiting to take comments but this is one of those sish what is it squishmallow squish mow yes I love this thing and you can purchase yours down by crew tie love that place they got boa tea they got all kind it's a problem it's my favorite oh I did not know that that's that's that that's pretty amazing good morning saraphina thanks for joining us and H Diana right around the corner at Bailey's oh hello this is right around the corner so you definitely need to come and check this out if we're going to do crafty together maybe we should talk come play neighbor hey Ashley and good morning Nate you survived getting home last night in the weather I was a little nervous about you you went to trivia last night and then the weather turned yeah yesterday was a little bit of everything I was painting outside in the sun and before you know it we had snow rain sleep hail welcome to Massachusetts All Seasons in one day uh Chrissy said Lauren is absolutely amazing for the community and such an inspiration thank you so yeah you were just getting into what old place this was and you did playm Makers yeah so when I left my teaching career I was like you know what that was the hardest time in my life 16 years of teaching stepping out of the field I'm like adults need their own places we need a place where we can go when we're feeling unregulated right and I like that unregulated no one wants to work when they're feeling like that and that sounds a lot prettier than deeply depressed well you know yeah definitely the team Lounge for adults where adults can be teens again I appreciate it it is oh my gosh we've had people walk in 84 years old haven't picked up drumstick since they were a teenager and Tim walks them right down let's go before you know it Jam sessions all day long this place just attracts people as I was pulling up this morning running late uh they I see you outside talking to people pointing I'm like who the heck does she have here already no it's just people walking by like what's happening in there yeah all the events are on the window now so if you're ever in the area stop by well because rewind 10 years of what the street was unless you were going to Mass Maritime it was kind of it was kind of turned down it was not the place that you were like oh no and it's been revitalized and it's growing and I love that this area is growing because it's such a cool space I'm super excited when they renovated the park right we started hosting we did the kindness Festival yeah shout out to Nicole five year anniversary years happy birthday that's amazing H hearts for kids does wonderful things in our community they do it it's just pretty incredible so uh we love you I'm actually volunteering there today we're gonna be there from 11 to one we are in pic casset off of Barlo Landon so please if you want to find out more about this organization kind hearts for kids stop by say hi we'll give you a tour um we work with families that are being raised by grandparents uh kids might be in foster care but we host birthday parties there for you free of charge so please reach out to Nicole Mitchell at kind Hearts thank you for that little oh hicole no I definitely need to book a time with you so we can do a show she's been nervous I've been trying to get her on with me for like three years and she's been avoiding me like the plague convincing her to do things she's not confident so I'm pretty sure now after seeing us she's going to be on here very awesome saraphina was asking if the adult lunch Lounge is open every day is this an everyday option yes Monday through Friday we are here 11 to1 for the adult Lounge we do also have the family Lounge open um from 9:00 am to 11: so you can come by with your kids we have a coffee station just come hang out decompress for a little bit before you start your day yeah this is a nice comfy area if you're coming and your kid wants to do something and maybe that's all you just want to do is sit yeah do a puzzle I know when my kids were little that's all wanted to do is sit and stare at a wall yeah and not have mommy mom mom mom mom for five minutes of my day so we have lots of board games available we have Legos up the ying-yang Rubik's Cubes coloring books you name it and if you would like to bring things here to add to our collection please we are always taking you know donations as far as games go Wednesday nights will we on Game Nights very nice I definitely want lemon Ado involved in game nights cuz that's what we're all about is getting out and playing for sure love to host you we also have glow nights coming up like black light nights those could be fun she was talking about installing black lights I'm like what is happening here so basically think of all the things you did in the 80s and the 90s that you know brought back really good memories we're doing it here we're bringing it back we're bringing it all back duct tape wallets my God don't even say that out loud un hear what she just said just don't even listen to it oh my gosh Cliff I need you here to help run workshops and I'm my wife loves to craft he sure does and he's really good at it too he's like a king cricketer I was like what are you doing down there making water bottles like what if you're watching please I need to hire you to come make some smoks uh oh he'll definitely do it too with with joy and Glee like he loves to craft and I just sit there and I'm like well I like to just Lounge in my PJs right now I I live a high stress life so when it's like my moment to relax crafting in arts is not I like being around it but I'm just a sit and support good job good job I feel like you would do really good with the adult coloring books I'm you know I would like that but I stink at coloring I am not I am mentally creative I am not artistically creative in that fashion there's no such thing I I feel like my brain doesn't do that I don't do that so the process with art I tell Tim this all the time because he said he actually just tried his first acrylic paint night okay and he did really well he did it back to back to night well Tim is also music brains as well so like I feel like that's where you know that I played instruments I'm we music people yeah it it does not translate to colorful Organization for me I told him he can burn his canvas afterward if he wants because you know what it doesn't matter what your canvas looks like after it's that whole process of for two hours you just shut off your brain and you were just engaging in something that wasn't toxic and wasn't you know what we get sucked into yeah that's true it really doesn't matter if it looks like a piece of crap when you're done the whole process of doing it good morning Ain Lisa thanks for joining us Marie I don't know if Chase has been over here but I definitely suggest that you come and visit Old places 125 Main Street Buzzards Bay and from the park you honestly can't miss it there's so much going on from the windows I love the light that you have in here can I just tell you is our interior decorator um so while Cliff is working hard on the cricket this man right here he literally went to town to decorate this place and I love everything about it he's like what do you want to get what do you how do you want to design it I'm like don't ask me those questions not my area I love being surrounded by people like that it's like full of ideas and full of excitement and that's honestly what this place Fosters so you can't help but be excited when you're here about all the things it can be I love that you're supporting local artists every day and you've got the cubby holes uh talk a little bit about how people are showing off their art selling their art connecting with the community if you're looking for a simple creative and one-of-a-kind gift this is definitely a great spot to stop in and see what they've got cooking in the Cubbies yeah I mean this one for instance this is one of my favorites the f bomb this is the f bomb and I'm actually going to purchase one of these for you so you can put it on your desk and thank I need that whip it at people when they come down the stairs throw it at Han um but yeah we rent out it's a 13 by 13 cubby and we rent out the space for 20 bucks a month we take no commission we let the artists and the creatives keep all of their proceeds um because honestly we're just renting out the space for you to Showcase people can come in they can purchase directly from the Creator they have their QR code right in the cubby and it's it's just super simple you know no fine print no trying to squeeze lemons we are just trying to provide a space for everybody it's perfect roselene is joining us from Brazil howdy Brazil what's going on and uh Mari says it's such a cute place I agree wholeheartedly uh Michelle wants to hear about the cubby holes a little bit more she is uh an amazing stained glass artist oh very nice and uh she does wonderful ornaments bigger pieces and uh was a family business her dad did it kind of inherited this business and um where so she's out of her place and they're currently in transition right now okay so Michelle definitely get a hold of Lauren and find maybe o places is your spaces lady we would love to Showcase your pieces we actually don't have anyone that does stained glass in here right now um we do have some wall space you know because not everything fits in a cubby so some things are better up on the wall um but yeah just send us an email oh placees space spes gmail.com you've got your Saturday markets so that's fun and it's Indo is another option for you if a cubby is not your thing um we are going to be offering indoor Saturday markets every Saturday we will have live music we'll have 10 vendors inside that's nice but we're also going to have tournaments we've got darts we got cornhole we have disc golf you didn't say it right it's Dots Dots we got some dots we're gonna have to have a challenge before you take oh my God I stick but there's something for everyone you know so if you don't want to look at the vendors you can play games you can play music you can sit on the couch grab coffee so a little bit of something for everyone talk to me about the business angle I've got efor all coming up I signed up to be a mentor again I feel like I'm finally I know right because I'm like I don't have enough going on in my life I'm going to do this but I feel like I'm finally we've hired a few people at lemono we've got things going on but I also am really excited to Foster those business ideas I get really excited when people are starting something new and I love being there for them because it's challenging but I'm also a good puzzle person so I can figure things out or sometimes see stuff that other people don't yeah uh and it's just really exciting to be a part of the efor all family once again and start this whole process so it's really difficult I think people are connecting in different ways how are you de deal with the business aspect of things because money's yucky to talk about sometimes and especially when you're um in a space where you're creative and I know eforall is offering right now it starts next week but how to make money as a creative and this is a free class for everyone so I want Cap Cod to realize that these are programs that are for everyone yeah Lauren and I both did one and we met through the program even though we didn't we met at the kindness Fair Festival when we we end up connecting and I'm like wait you did efor all right you're another alarm I know so a lot of people don't know what eforall stands for so you should probably I'm newers ship for all and basically if you've never run your own business or maybe you're a creative and you're thinking maybe this idea can make me money I don't know how to go about doing that I don't know how to do financing I don't know how to ask for money um it's it's a walkthrough it's business school with a fire hose y you will learn all okay to cry I cried a lot I gotta be honest we all did did but that money conversation I bald my eyes out because I we all have this awful relationship with money sometimes when you're asking for things and you don't think you're worthy of it and I love that this place offers the space for you to be creative but also to make a couple of bucks and maybe seen by someone that you haven't been seen by right which is what the collective the community is all about I think the craziest part of it all is really and it I didn't learn until a few months into the program yeah we're all the same I know like I thought people that ran businesses had to go through you know this whole life process and here I am retired pre- teacher I don't know what I want to be when I grow up you know but it turns out anyone can do it if you have the support and someone's literally there setting up that foundation for you yeah Donna Donna over here oo eam in the house jna we've had her a few times with magic mirror Cap Cod um her photo booth is so much fun they're interactive if you are having an event or a birthday party you should definitely reach out to Donna um oh my gosh so much fun I know she was here doing something because I one of my friends Liz was like oh Lauren's place is awesome and we got to go and use the photo booth that was great honestly nothing else matters it's the photo booth like take your pictures and leave because that's where all the fun is right oh it's so fun and she did such a great job and I feel like magic mirror is everywhere if you're looking for a fun interactive thing definitely book Donna and go see magic mirror for sure and not to mention she shows up like this yeah I mean I had her for the New Year's Event and then we had another event coming up and it was literally the night before and I was like oh so I might how about you just leave it here to reach out to you oh I'm trying to get it permanently installed we're working on it and she showed up and she was able to just drop it on the Fly and that's awesome fantastic she's also doing the family business her children are involved in helping her grow this business which I think is awesome I definitely incorporate my children into pretty much everything whether they like it or not they're involved in it well they were here at the market Y and Donna ended up hanging out and her son oh I forget his name such cuutee you remember his name Tim so her Sonna drop it in the chat yes drop it is here for four hours entertaining the guests on the drums awesome he did not put those sticks down and apparently it was the first time you played drums he was a natural that's insane absolutely natural like people couldn't believe it we're standing in here tearing up like oh my God look at him go and he's on Main Street just rocking it for people to come in it was it was really cool so talk a little bit about the music aspect because I really love that you're incorporating that we talk about The Artisans and the crafting and the crafty oie y but the music place is such a nice vibe in here you've got this for it yeah and that is all credit to Tim um he is Kingston the thank you Kingston he is the director of Music he runs a music Lounge um he just does such a good job at bringing all of these talented musicians in this is a collaboration so it's not like hey we want to get these bands in here right it is an open space for if you're bored on a Monday or Tuesday night we have open mic come pick out an instrument you know even if if you haven't picked one up in a while Kingston riding way on the drums the drum set the kit is here all set up so you can just hop on it and Y bang out your aggression we have two drum sets maybe make something cool oh yeah two drum sets who knows you might might be a natural like right hold in that be like Kingston was really good that's incredible and then um yeah Tim has so much going on over there we have the piano we've got guitars we have the drums he plays so you got the soundboard over there too right so you can make some tracks which is kind of exciting yeah he does live karaoke it's just a whole lot and you can sign up for whatever it is right sign up for the music area and then just he's got a list of oh my gosh seeing this list grow is just inredible where can people follow are you online are you updating an online schedule yeah so I think the easiest way to follow us is on oasis.com um we are on Facebook but I know sometimes that gets lost in the algorithm well there's just a lot going on and I feel like if there's a central space at op places.com then people can find the listing or be a member I know you've got certain membership levels so maybe talk about how you can support here how you can join here and and what that includes maybe so I mean we offer everything out of cart you can just pop in um but we do offer memberships too so our daily membership is really for the Youth which is $60 and then we have our adult membership which is $65 a month that basically gives you access to the lounge the space come and create um and then which is such an affordable space for your budget you know you can play music you can get all of your creativity in One Stop Shop which is really nice but also moms and dads if you're looking for a safe space I know in mashby we've got the boys and girls club it you're not right around the corner I know Buzzards Bay and born kids are are looking for a place to go and be entertained that is a safe space that is a fun space yeah that you're not stressing out about having them on board or video gaming glued to your bedroom right this is out this is talking to people this is creating community and being out and around which I think to the kids too like what do the kids want to do we've had kids come in saying they want to learn how to draw anime they want to do chess tournaments so cool like yeah they we encourage you to put down your phone and just come in and be creative and play um and it's just it's been really refreshing seeing a whole table of like 15 16 teens playing board games yeah absolutely because that they're craving that too whether they know it or not I feel like sometimes teenagers get in their feelings and then they you know they're not very communicative but if you put them in a space with like-minded individuals or people that are kind of going through it too whatever their hormone level is that day we've all been a teenager and we understand good morning Lisa and Bill thanks for joining us this morning we're in Buzzards Bay at Old places spaces a new art Lounge basically I mean it's a collaborative Art Studio collaborative art studio and music Lounge 125 Main Street Buzzards Bay and uh we're just talking about all the options to get involved with this in the community for every age bracket yeah literally every age it doesn't matter who you are what your ability is just stop in we're gonna have something fun for you how are you functioning as a new business owner with a space now that you've got to fill this is personally oh I don't know this is just you know me this is just a Lauren has time to check in on me and was like how are you doing because I reached out to her and I'm like I'm not great right now Lauren I'm not great and I'm like I might have an hour to come and help you out like I don't know what we're gonna do but let's just do it we we have to help each other out I really appreciated that space where I was just really having a low space and we as business owners get so caught up in the things that are going on and it meant a lot to me that I knew you had all of this going on and I'm like I did not mean to dump on you but I'm not good yeah and and that's okay and I'm so glad that you are able to say that you're not okay yeah so many people just hide it and it doesn't do anybody any good it's okay to be like you know what I'm not okay today because tomorrow go would be okay because what I see in this space is definitely taking care of your mental health and I think it's super important that this uh whether you're out there and maybe you're in charge of some grant money or maybe you're looking to support some local Artisans or make a great space for everybody just saying they accept donations we do we do because honestly um we went into this I had barely anything um Tim really was the financial front of this we've managed to stay out of getting loans um we've really just trying to do this with the last nickel dimes we have and but that's believing in a project and it's important good morning Patrice good morning uh Joe thanks for joining us oh look at it's Bobby's here where's he going am I at the right space he cracks me up good morning Bobby Bobby's another one of our hosts for lemono also an amazing artisan and crafter and he's working on some some puppet tree and some other kids programming so uh I'm pretty pumped to see what bobb's been working on it's a lot of fun it very entertaining yeah good morning Julia thanks for joining us so what's going what's going on in your world um we are crazy right now we're in 13 different places running events uh I know I know so that portion of its wild we are working uh in the mashby Commons cooking up a farmers and Makers Market maret on the larger scale of things and talking about food um I know food insecurity is a huge thing that we have here on Cape and I know it's one of the it's an underbelly issue I think that people don't talk about it uh but the need is great I am working with um we're full on our podcasting side of things so that's pretty incredible we're working in finance I'm working with Jenny wheeler over at The Family Table collaborative she's going to Africa oh my gosh amazing she's going to Africa and learning um to to feed in a different recyclable fashion oh wow and uh lemon Ado has gotten the the ability to uh edit her podcast that's EXC so we're putting that together that whole Vision which is super exciting to work on grander scale things I thought you were G to tell me you were going after no uh sign me up for it though no we've got our big trip coming up my daughter's graduating she just got accepted to another college so now Begins the what the heck am I going to do and she's so stressed out but I mean she's doing a really good job advocating for herself I got to give her a lot of credit she's uh quit some stuff she has put herself out there um she and she'll probably murder me for talking about this but there was a certain role that she put herself out there for yeah she didn't get it and then I pushed her to go audition on a bigger scale for a capewide production with adults and she just threw herself at this audition she went for two hours and she came out rejuvenated and ener ized in her art again to see grownups not a high school situation grown-ups throwing themselves out there and Performing and singing and learning dance choreography and I know you sing and dance over here a lot oh my gosh but the joy when I saw her leave a collaborative Collective space like that was so exciting for me to see as a grownup watching she's just so in her element is she you said she quit a few things she didn't quit lady lose no no no okay she's a buding entrepreneur I said you missed the deadline for this eforall she is but we would actually love to host you Lily we are waiting um we're gonna have a lady Loro tea party here she's working on sourcing her tea right now so she grows it in the summer and she makes her own tea she does uh tea parties for all ages and themes summer tea I had oh that's awesome so good but she grows it and puts it all together she's a potion and lotion maker and 17 I know she's just 17 17 years old and we have another entrepreneur in the making but she does period pieces so she dresses up in Gilded Age clothing and does a tea party and teaches tea etiquette and has this beautiful G it's like a whole thing it is it's a show I can't wait to host her we're gonna have to check in on her schedule I know she's got college and a lot of stress no but I would love for her to be able to do a tea party if somebody requests birthday parties so maybe talk about the birthday party angle because I know Nicole does it you also do it you've got this base here which I think is a wonderful idea I saw some people on some of our town Pages looking for where to have a kids party it's winter it's all the same options this is a different option which like this is a different option this is like going to Grandma's house but being able to kick off your shoes you know sit on the couch with no plastic coverings yeah right but we host birthday parties here um not just birthday though I have had people request um retirement parties we have had sobriety party okayest yeah so we basically will host whatever it is you want to host uh divorce party you can smash things around here right is there a rage room where is that oh it's coming um yeah if you can dream it we can te it that's funny so what kind of like the hang out without the hangover yeah we throw different events for different occasions because you know what life is so freaking hard yeah that you have to kind of celebrate all the milestones and Tim is just constantly Tim wants credit for that the hang out without the hangover is constantly coming up with these taglines and phrases and they just stick that one is one of my favorites that's awesome in a world where honestly we're all healing from being you know something MH something and so it's nice to be able to come here and have a space where it's not the focus is not around drinking yeah the focus is around having fun connecting with other people and just finding your joy again totally good morning Sam Ellen hello from Florida Susan chrisy chrisy Christine Thomas what's up Huck this is definitely a fun spot for you to stop on by and say hello oh my gosh we need the whole lemon Ado crew here yeah right we just have a powow on the couch suay that would be hilarious definitely wear our PLO adjacent shirts I love it oh my God shout out RTV thank you so much Amanda still hasn't gotten her pla Jason shirt she's been busy doing e forall things in a grander scale yeah they just graduated another cohort just graduated from eforall it's crazy I'm also going to be collaborating with wkkl students so I'll be in the studio at wkkl every other Thursday I know doing the show with some of the graduating kids I like change I like not see I feel like I sit all day every day I stood up yesterday for the first time and I was like oh my god I've been sitting here for 10 hours like it's ridiculous I won't even get up for coffee I don't get up for lunch I'm editing things so when I you know unfocus my eyeballs from a screen I need to I need to be out the day has passed and that's why I do like some of our nighttime programming because at least I'm out I'm talking to people I'm cracking bad jokes on the microphone what it just makes me feel like I I'm part of a community I made my own and I feel like this is what you've done here you've made your own Community for everyone to be involved in that's what we're hoping but I tell you you have been a huge inspiration behind that you know it's just been really I've always was like oh how can I how can I one day one day and here you're doing it you're sitting in the lounge it's so exciting you're doing it what's up Tiffany thanks for joining us this morning Huck is boxing so don't say you
