laughs up to work I know he needs to work anyway hi everybody good morning inside right yes let's make sure you stop at the table we're selling tickets to raise money for Tommy's place we're selling tickets for an IPA and a Seltzer to raise money for Tommy's place okay now that's inside too um right at the Rock and Trust table for six dollar tickets get your tickets 100 of the proceeds goes to Tommy's Place see look at that you can work and do it I'm joined here by Melissa guymons I'm so bad with last names I really am she's the media specialist from Rockland Trust and I am so thrilled to have you hanging out with me today well thank you so much for having us Stephanie and helping us with this initiative it's been great yeah I feel like it's been a wink and a dream since we began this whole summer you've done it before so this summer was bigger better every single one of the Rockland Trust brand branches had Lemonade Stand kits yes so last year was just a cape initiative run by an hour district manager Patrice and it was kind of like she wanted to figure it out and go for it we're like okay and then we realized how much it did and last year she raised families across Cape Cod along with the bank raise twenty thousand dollars in Chinese place would just like 13 branches they're like we can make this bigger so this year our 123 branches are doing initiatives and so far as of I think it was Friday morning we were at 28 000 just donated from lemonade stands the bank will make a donation on top of that and then we're still collecting donations until September 30th so there is a lot of more I feel like kids are having lemonade stands in August and September so hopefully we see a big up pick because July is kind of like party month right yeah and there is still time before school starts I love the fact that we're doing it today here at knockbell by the way you can come by and we'll talk about what we're doing here and knock them out in just a minute but today is the Falmouth Road Race so congratulations to all of our friends running the Falmouth Road Race um that have been training and working so hard you know what it's like when it's a seven Miler but it's not a Shabby seven Miler there are Hills it's brutal I've done it 15 times I'm retired we're tired I'm not doing this anymore but actually Tommy Leonard founded the found the program yes so that's where Tommy's place got its name from and if you've ever talked to Tim he gets weepy he gets seriously but he talks about the story about how he met Tommy and how Tommy's place came I definitely suggest that you go and find I know that we've talked about it on our live stream before and I've posted some of the interviews with Tim you can go back and look at them and um just see what an amazing guy Tommy Leonard was and what an amazing initiative this really is so to have Rocklin trust which you guys really when they say every relationship matters it you actually really do um even down to the merch when I walked over to Melissa and I said I love these iced coffee sleeves they're awesome and it's actually a business that is local that you guys get all of your stuff through yes it's through Walker Clay they're a small business out Hanson they're also a family-owned business I think it's so big fans of them yeah but also that you put your money where your mouth is literally when Rockland trash makes these relationships with their their business bank or people that use them for business thinking like little anchor Boutique yes this summer she has gone above and beyond to have Lemonade Stand kits in front of her store I can't believe she did she did a sign up sheet I think and she like sent it out when we we like let customers know towards the end of May right before Memorial Day weekend about the initiative like we're going to be doing this again it's going to be Bank wad if you're a small business and you want to offer up your business as a place for kids to host dance because not every kid lives on the street where a lemonade stand would make sense right right so she did a sign up she did a sign up sheet and it got filled within like two weeks so every single Saturday she has a child in their mom or dad or family member with them from I think it's like ten to two selling lemonade and from her business and she's done so well and like all the kids coming to the branch right after and donate and the small little business and Falmouth is doing so much just to do that and she does a lot of other things the Tommy's place along with Stephanie should interview with her a couple weeks ago and she's just she really cares about the community and knows like as a toy business I want to give back to and kids really need it right yeah so yeah so definitely seeing that story come to life as well go and visit them and he's Falmouth little anchor Boutique Ariana Kerrigan she's just amazing good morning Matt good morning Joanna yeah Tommy's place did help Mighty Quinn so thank you so much for checking in that's awesome so what we're doing here today at knock about we have a Tommy's Place IPA we have a Rockland Trust shelter and you can buy tickets from Miss Melissa right outside the door and a hundred percent of the proceeds are going back to Tommy's Place Rockland Trust is absorbing the cost of whatever your beverage is so you can come and buy those tickets and 100 is going to Tommy's place which is just incredible and uh thank you very much to knock about for allowing this to happen because uh very big discount we appreciate it and it's also one of my favorite beers here at Knockouts and also the Seltzer is pineapple um so if you want to uh we like to mix them all the different saucers so I'm sure that they won't say no to you I know the bartenders has 13 Lake Ave in Mashpee is where we are and we're going to be here until two o'clock so Melissa has said I'm right outside and she's got some fun stuff from clay Walkers and local makers um outside and also we've got Esther here who is selling her Chinese space cookbooks 100 of the proceeds goes to Tommy's Place she's got some mugs and whatnot and we're really just here championing so where we're going to have an after party where do I get a libation we have plenty of broken there's plenty of parking there's plenty of stuff to be near people you can melt and on with beverage girls all different types of food I highly recommend hanging out here perfect way to end your Sunday running right yeah of course if you're not running like me or Stephanie you're spending your Sunday supporting people that's it so we would love you to swing through and check it out if you've not been here before definitely a cool little spot to have an afternoon where you can give back and check two things off of your box um other ways that you can still donate you do still have Lemonade Stand kick in the branches yeah another week um basically we will hand them out until we're hoping to collect donations through the 30th of September but of course we'll always accept donations we have a donation account with Tommy's place at the bank so people can just walk in and donate we have a PayPal QR code that's on our website but also every branches of Flyers doing that as well and then hits can be picked up at any branch branches still have kids so they can request them as many as they want so we're trying to push through for the next 40 years so days so I'm really excited to see how much at the end we've raised and hopefully we can make it bigger next year yeah definitely support Rockland Trust who is really really doing the work and supporting small local businesses we really appreciate everything that you do visit their website make a donation if you don't have any little people also it's been really nice watching the little kids learn a little bit about like financial literacy that's yeah and Counting back change and going into your branches and making a deposit of the donation like it's really cute to see them work with money it was the lemonade stand kind of like as soon as Patrice brought it up we're like this is a great way to like tie in kids learning how to handle money if it's like as a kid like you like kind of do different things selling things like I always sold sodas of Beach and it got me like learning how to handle money um and so doing a lemonade stand it also brings back the whole the importance of giving back and like learning the basics about um financial literacy and just money handling and those are really important skills that like not every school teaches and we have a financial education officer who's literally her job is to promote Financial education and all our branches across our Network um yes so her name is Miss money goes her full name is Julie Beckham but we just launched a miss20's classroom which is the full online classroom that's interacted with videos sing-along songs activity sheets all teacher-based lesson plans there's five different lesson plans to help you kind of guide your child or your students through different money lessons that are free to you it's a free resource so definitely check out it's Miss money's classroomtrust.com I absolutely love it I definitely did not learn how to use or deal with money especially on any level whatsoever in fact I did a business class and I literally cried but it was like the money day and I was like I am so emotional about this because I I'm terrible with it and I don't know how to to learn how to do it so that's been a learning experience for me as an adult but I love the fact that you're having this money is do this with kids yeah because it's so important just planning and saving and figuring things out she does a great way of so she has a theater background and so originally she did Miss money in the coins which was a musical about money and she performed over 11 to like so many students across Massachusetts and we kind of widen the breach because she can only really do one performance a day to make it a lot easier for all those kids she's kind of made an online version but she also has a podcast called no shame in this money game and then a mini money minute which is a podcast episode that she launches basically on a monthly basis that's under five minutes and kind of gives you Snippets she did one recently on how Taylor Swift is changing the economy so like pretty cool with current events I love that but Julia's doing great things and she's really helping kids across the footprint of Massachusetts in our bank learning about money and like having a healthy relationship with it so wonderful and I really don't really know that you are engaging to you because this is where everybody's stuff starts yes the relationships begin when they're little for sure and it's just that lemonade and stand money but you know what they're going to learn what it the value of their work is yeah so
