he could for his first one but but like I have to defend my tribe yeah absolutely like no number like number two is is is Asians for my tribe number one is comedians I have I have to defend that and there's that yeah because not every single joke is going to land even the best special with which like d Chappelle a lot of his specials are great but then there's always like that one that's like oh lazy but then compared to like him who's the goat there's always going to be like one or two like out of any set that's just going to be like uh but that that's what we have to deal with in order to get to the Great jokes yeah you gota work through that he didn't really have a chance no it's an award show I feel like you're are just gonna get award show stuff which is fluff and it doesn't give you time to develop anything this is very true and Seth McFarland described it as like a a Star Trek the um the test of the hosha Maru is that what it's called Josh where where like the beginning Captain Kirk has to take this test that that like you know is is you're gonna fail yeah um it's just how you fail yeah it's it's just it's just how you fail you want to see how your mind works while you're failing if you've seen the original show or even like the 2009 movie it's the same test that that like you have to take and and like okay but how do you take this failure you're right because you're gonna fail but how bad are you gonna fail that's basically stand up there you go you cracked the code it is what it is are gonna fail so you got a big show you're not gonna fail that's tomorrow Pi Day and the day of AJ are the same day that that's right praise B to Pi it's a whole circle it's a whole thing for you it's a whole circle maybe a piece a circle slice slice of AJ tomorrow night yeah may maybe like 3.14 and Infinity but other than that what's gonna happen who do we got oh we got a kickass show we just added uh the hilarious Annie Powell who uh I believe she uh she was doing voices on Archer yeah I was like how'd you get her all of a sudden I saw her to the lineup I was like Smooth nice dude freaking Annie pal is on the show that's very cool before she goes back to LA for a little bit and does some voiceover work so you could you could see her was like wow I recognize that voice I just want to close my eyes and listen to her talk Annie has a great voice and and she and she's hilarious to work with and one one of the hardest acts to follow like uh like I I've had plenty of comedians tell me that too yeah I just like oh crap I gotta follow Annie do you have any good new uh new material you're G to roll out tomorrow you've been saving up storing yes so I have I have I have something something uh just like a wedding something new so something Old Something Borrowed and it's all Josh's material I'm going to be up be up there just like guys I'm Jewish uh like that that's that that's that's gonna that's gonna be the whole thing and and I'm G I'm gonna use his girlfriend's name as my fake girlfriend too what that's fine you know he uses my material maybe he gets a laugher once it to be the only time your material gets left this is a tough table to be at right now these two just throw Barb at each other all day long and it's just like watching a tennis match I enjoy it no Josh I'm kidding I'm not going to men seea you you know that no I I know but I am going to eviscerate you before you get up so Josh wanted to follow me on my own birthday show he asked me this yesterday I said no absolutely not well this is how's the lineup gonna run then dude um like himself headline his own birthday it's me when have I ever head headlined like any of my own ticketed shows this is the first one in 10 years that that I am well I mean I feel like if you're working on your birthday I worked on my birthday and my friend Rob mocked me the entire night I did the same for his birthday when he was also working on his birthday I feel like you just have to embrace it yeah yeah you do you do have to embrace it and then uh last last year uh did we sell out the birthday show or were we like a little bit short Josh we we were right right at capacity yeah yeah I think like uh with Watkins because there was like probably like five or six Watkins we were like right at capacity we went knock last year yes it is such a great place to see a show Rodney oh it was um H Rodney was on the show Rodney Norman stopped by and did a set so we're like hell yeah he's super funny oh Rodney's great yeah uh Dan buer closed out that night and he was not happy following me because uh there was one lady in the front I don't know if you remember this Josh yeah um I confused them for a couple but they were actually like mom and son and that was my whole set was just talking to them yeah I sounds kind of fun I do remember Dan he's like yeah this is great going up after AJ everybody's here for him his birthday all the good laughs are you know sometimes your crowd work is on fire though AJ you just get on a rip and you just go I I tried to stick to material but then there but since since I T stopped taking Aderall after the pmic all right there's just so much stuff that's around that I have to point like you look like a thing and well there was just a study about if you take Aderall they're calling your study drugs if you will and you don't have ADHD you're priming your brain for drug abuse and alcohol abuse I was like oh okay yeah because I I do have uh you actually do have ADHD No just add because I because I I grew up in I was was diagnosed in the 990s so so back then nobody really had ADHD I have the original ad that's all right perfect I'm I'm the OG to to me ad ADHD fake everybody knows it Dorian said AJ's crowd workor is many places you could have gone with that so many oh oh yeah for Tyler's birthday um he's a fellow comic of ours uh this was after House of hatchets shout out to Cliff by the way I know I just saw him yesterday we're gonna be doing some giveaways more hatchets coming your way everybody we we we love we love Cliff yeah he's awesome and then we're doing Josh's roast there in May so uh I think it's May 22nd and ban Woodward is on who's a hilarious comic we moved the date just so she could be on it oh awesome and um the our last show at House of hatchets uh this was when Mike McCarthy was headlining and then uh it was Tyler rodri's birthday that day and nobody showed up for him a like no nobody show showed up for his sorry Tyler so we all took him to Tiki Port after there you go before before that more people showed up from a funeral and and came afterwards that showed up for Tyler's birthday oh I'm sorry then afterwards we were at Tiki Port rest in peace and then um well I mean I think it's still there it's just Andy's not there and that I feel was the heart and soul of T and Andy was uh Andy was it shout out to Andy by the way and then our friend arri Shield fantastic comic from New York yeah like um he asked um he asked Andy hey do you have uh birthday cake yeah or anything like that he's like oh we got a decoration that's what Andy said so he comes back I'll throw something together yeah he definitely threw something together the best so Andy took a banana he he took a banana uh with some with some grenadine and cherries put it in a hot dog bun and then put a candle in and lit it for him that's what Tyler was talking about he said I'll bring the hot dog rolls in grenadine I was going to let this happen because I needed to hear more about it before I repeated it it's hot dog bun not roll how dare you get the pronouns wrong I will cancel you Ty that is amazing I love Andy so much so many good memories leaving that place it was like they were given away I don't even know what when his last week was announced when he officially announced it out loud it it was it was like Bob Barker leaving the prices right it was it was insane and uh I happen to be working uh a gig nearby and so I went to go there but I was like G I'm not even going to get a spot to eat in there and so I walk into the place the Chinese place that's directly next door and it was full of all the people that were waiting to get in it was like the waiting room to get to Tiki to say goodbye to Andy it was wild oh that's great that's VIP status it was hysterical so I walk in there and my daughter who happened to be with us at the time I'm like we're just going to go in and say goodbye it is a restaurant you can walk in and she was like if this is how she thinks bars are she's going to be very disappointed when she does in fact go to them in a few years because it was insane it was like a casino it was wild so uh I I've had four generations of my family going to see most most best physical comedians when I said I had lover boy stuck in my head and I couldn't get it out Everyone's Watching and you immediately went to the chip Andale skit with him and Patrick szy oh um I think I the first thing I think of um with that show the second is patricky but the first one is Zoolander from from 2001 oh so good like him him in the coal mine just rubbing sweat after being there for like two minutes so good are we are we still talking about the Lover Boy song or like the the facial expressions all the above Farley being a physical comedian period like I I just have you seen uh only murderers in the building yet yes Steve Martin just still just even though he's so much older but he still looks the same as yeah he really does honestly he's stared to feel how he looks but but still just his physical comedy is still top top here I mean he is he is absolutely St Steve Steve Martin and Martin Short like PE people were trashing Aquaman 2o but I love how Martin Short was in there for just five minutes and it was oddly oddly satisfied is that what made you love Aquaman 2o so much because you were really on it the other day with like this popular opinion Aquaman 2 is great I I I I liked it I thought it was a fun movie pretty much any movie that I see I see with my dad I liked and U my dad's my dad's not going to watch this uh but then like uh in the early 990s uh my parents promised me that when there's an Aquaman movie that they'd go take me to see it because they were getting me comic books from there for 33 cents from Ocean State jabla in hyan and I said oh yeah when there's an Aquaman movie we'll we'll take it to go see it so I'm in my 30s finally it's happening when it when it when Aquaman one comes out and then so I separately take each parent off because of the divorce afterwards so like I take my dad to go see Aquaman and then like the the two days later I take my mom to go see aquam you're still pulling divorce kid crap at 30 that's ridiculous he gets two Christmases so ridiculous AJ nobody likes Aquaman 2o that much nobody I mean I love a good Jason Bola please but it wasn't all I'm saying is it wasn't as bad as they say at least for me anyway okay it wasn't morbius oh morbius which I know is his favorite morbius is a masterpiece of of of of dance moves maybe he's getting something that we don't know out of it I don't both of us but but but I don't feel that the smear was out of out of spite because if it was out of spite it wouldn't be a smear it was traumatic and we didn't find it until the morning after it was traumatic like what happened to chocolate on the pillow dude how do we know it wasn't a Hershey's and by the way after like talking to the hotel they only gave us half off that's wait wait wait back this guy also told April hey uh ask Christine if it's okay and then we told Christine about it and she said no absolutely not all right and then so uh this is show number one we did a 7 PM show and we did a 9M show so this guy was there since 300 p.m. just hanging out of the bar and then I I didn't recognize him at at at first but then I said oh oh my God that's a guy from wah Bergers that that's that's that's Arthur other brother he's the he's the oldest one oh so so like like the Hemsworth brothers have like that guy that was like in um uh what's what's What's that show the third Hemsworth brother was in the oldest one Josh oh Westworld yes yes yeah so he was so this guy was the Westworld uh wallberg which by the way that Westworld brother is still very hot like still very hands and and Arthur Wahlberg's still a handsome guy so this guy comes out he's wearing the marcho the the the Groucho marks glasses with the nose and the mustache and he's wearing like an all squid suit and a hat so he's standing by the spotlight because I was wondering why is the spotlight shaking and then there's this guy standing by we're like so awkward oh no so Liam hail oh no oh no good morning Dave and Mari so so he's planed charge the stage so April asked Liam hail who's a big guy he's he's 6 fo8 just just just like a big Burly fell yeah that's the guy you want to watch the stage so so uh so he say yeah if he charges the stage can you stop him so he just stood in front of uh in front of Arthur Walberg and this other guy uh came around that was security for the VFW and he said no dude you gotta go VFW and I said we we don't go on walberg's just just just so weird and is like no and then he ended up being escorted out through the bar exit not even the front exit through the bar exit so sad AJ was like I'm the one doing stand up not you you it's like hey say hi to your mother for me but that's just really weird like sat there for four hours at a VFW and got bounced like that's the that's the wallberg brother that you are that's that's sad and AJ had a real hard time you know saying no to him because he is a wallberg and uh uh AJ is Asian so they're just wall bers now they're not wallberg W they're wber I'm just happy he didn't take a slug at me this grouo marks that would have just made for so much better of a story if he did try and get at you what he's like I'm gonna turn corporate shows get people to ask you to do impersonations no I don't think so Josh does uh Josh does a lot of research just going around asking questions so like a lot of people that are taking smoke breaks and he takes a lot of smoke breaks he just chills with them and like yeah any info want we want to tell me it's smart go up that's smart well I I'll I'll always find out who like the loud mouth crowd with people and then I'll watch their sets and they're like huh what else can I add to this like what other what other tags can I it's a totally different beast when you're doing situations like that Sam Kennison was hysterical I do agree very much and and Josh and I are doing a corporate on Saturday it's in uh Berlin New Hampshire okay so so so so I had to so we had to get a hotel like two two days ago we got a really good price so thank goodness so so we are going to rip we're going to rip on these people for an hour and then we're going to DJ for them for a couple hours so we have to face and hang out with everybody afterwards yeah what is that like that's kind of awkward well if they don't laugh at the jokes it's going to reflect the music that we it's gonna be all R like me you're gonna get lover boyed just like the first song on is that like kise song like I hate you so much right dude it's it's it's just gonna be Monster Mash 20 times this is what you paid for this is Knockin Boots it'll be available next week which I'm pumped for Knockin Boots yes it is is absolutely awesome I'm not I'm becoming a barfly I'm pretty much out seven nights a week I am the fly I'm always there hello it's me no I do have the the thalouth um scholarship Gala to do on Saturday night so I need to behave myself all day Saturday but I will be running the show like making sure everybody gets to where they need to go we've got um musicians we've got games we've got crafts we've got people people selling Irish soda bread um it's just going to be Irish dancers bag pipes uh you name it it's Patty's weekend yeah just a bunch of edge shearing running around 100% of them just the Irish dancing made me think of that the Steve Sweeny joke where he's like you know even even Irish dancing it's just like pushing down your emotions absolutely pushing down your emotions Hands by your side just the act out is those girls are so sweet too two of them are going to like internationally compete which is pretty incredible oh that's sick I know right they're really good at pushing down their emotions especially with the expensive heavy hair that they have to wear on comedians you're now nannying for at night you're always nannying poor Aaron because because like now Pete includes Aon in meetings because they're like yeah because you're gonna be babysitting one of these guys absolutely oh you're good Rick Erin go bra absolutely we appreciate you miss Erin yeah shout shout shout out shout out to Aaron uh and then uh Rick Rick's a good guy yeah I believe you Rick they're the worst and they are worse than the four-year-old I nanny for so says Ain that's valid I can't hate on that I absolutely love you guys when I'm not in charge of you I would be fine with that her that's a whole you signed up for that eron I don't know why she she keeps showing up so so keep her it's on you always welcome at this table Aon but but but we found her more help at the ticketed shows uh Kayla who's who's been working with us um who's who's also a photographer uh she helps with the door as well and u a great addition to to the team um just just starting out with us but uh the team the team is growing we're putting on more and more shows uh knockabout is is I would consider our our Flagship at this point and then uh just uh just just branching out doing other stuff it's to the point where like I I don't necessarily try to go out of my way to book new rooms but if people hit me up I'll I'll I'll I'll listen out because our team is still small it's mighty but small and then like uh if if some of my partners like other shows like hey this person hit me up BL like okay let's go meet them so uh we're we're meeting someone else in the Marshfield area today um and this is uh this is before I I uh celebrate my birthday the day before um so so we so we might be doing some stuff at some uh country clubs on the South Shores that that I'm excited about I like that my team is small But Mighty yeah Dorian says she's wiped less drool off of a four-year-old's lip than some of the Comedians and Jessica says haha yeah well like uh well well some well some of those comedians uh stop drinking so so that's oh yeah what is that like oh what's what like when when the the fun funny comedian decides to be sober now um so sometimes their sets get better I would say I'd say most of the time that their their sets get better it's like oh your focus now great welcome to the party I've never met a comedian I well correct me if I'm wrong Josh I haven't met a comedian that's way better drunk on stage than not than not drunk yeah well that's that fine line yeah and and generally I I don't recommend uh smoking or drinking before before a show I mean at least for for me anyway it it doesn't it doesn't really work out but for but for others they they they they they they could they could smoke fine and just like no I I need to smoke and I was like no I'm not gonna smoke or drink until like after my set because every comedian is different at least for me I just need to be 100% focused when I'm on stage yeah I I smoke a lot just to kind of even the playing field for everybody else oh oh oh yeah sure CU you're so good a Josh comes to me a couple weeks ago he said I didn't bomb at hle last year just like that is BS like like first of all you don't e either you're delusional or you don't do enough comedy and bomb once I think I was pretty consistent last year cons consistent sure but but like you could say say like never bomb that's that's I didn't say never I didn't say never but that happens that goes with the territory pretty good pretty good pretty good streak going yeah uh well like uh well you're Josh you're also talking about corporates and and and like we generally don't bomb it corporates like they they love us yeah but we we don't you talk to most other comedians about doing corporates they're like they pay good but I hate them yeah 100% I feel like that that is like the scope of things I love them in the entertainment space of trivia nights or playing music at them it's really that's just a nice easy gig but for you guys it's very different because I feel like comedy is so personal and comedy is also like you're dredging up all of like your pain your issues your stuff it's almost cathartic so when you're doing it in a corporate setting it's got to be very specific but if you guys have a line on what you think works in for every room then it works for you you've developed a program that's different as long as we're in person like the the the show is going to be great yeah like Zoom not our expertise nor nor should it be any who killed at Zoom comedy anyone uh that's so awkward the people that killed killed killed at Zoom comedy are still doing Zoom comedy and they only do Zoom comedy but but I I dude you got you got to do stuff in real life too in fact you should be doing more real life stuff significantly more real life stuff than than Zoom comedy like uh I was still doing Zoom comedy up until like maybe December and that was maybe like one twice a month on a Sunday just so I could get some new material in but then like I I stopped doing it recently that way like Sundays I can either write or do mics uh Etc because be being in real life it's it's harder um in most cases but but so much so much easier and so much personal if if you're out there well that's a good conversation to have with everyone that is watching that is not in the line of Comedy the jokes that you do tell on stage have been practiced and rehearsed 1 million times before you've done them or maybe you're like this is new I'm going to let this fly but you've had it in your brain for so long right you have it in your brain and you just need to express it out if it's funny to you it can be told in a way that's funny to everybody else but we we just we just need to practice and find that do you ever help the people that you're working with that like maybe you should do this or this would be funnier if this absolutely situationally yeah sure yeah if it's if it's some if it's someone I don't know I just I just I just uh myself they didn't ask me ex exactly because like I don't know this person I don't know if they'll like take take this uh advice as a personal attack not everybody loves constructive criticism not everyone and if you've been doing comedy less time than another person like don't try to give them advice at all you you you could tag tag up a bit like because tag yeah tag tag because if I'm telling a joke that has a premise that somebody hasn't thought about and then they see it from a different angle then it does give you a different perspective of what you're saying that could kind of add to the bit more time on a bid is fine or a tag here and there that gets you an extra laugh but don't don't tell people oh you should do your whole set like a completely different way cuz that's has that ever worked in the history of humans with saying you should do it this way no no it and and that's 100% time never ever works yeah but have you thought of this angle that's a easier way to come at somebody I don't know I feel like it's always in the delivery period how you how you talk to people period oh sure well like uh T tags are one thing if if I know if I know somebody like pretty well and I know they're receptive to it like th those are the people that that I can help those are the people that I can coach but like if I tell somebody one thing and they take it as a personal attack and they like no this you blah blah blah I don't I never try to help them again yeah there there's a lot of egos in the I you have to be though you have to have a certain okayness with being out in front of a group of people yes you have to have a certain kind of the focal point but but but if if you don't take constructive criticism I'm not gonna waste my time on you and I like I'm I'm not going to help you at all because there are other people that want help need help and and we'll and we'll take both as it's like uh in the book river runs through it like uh the PE the people that need help like won't take it and vice versa it's very true it's just the way it is yeah I I can't deal it's very difficult to deal with people that are I've got this all on my own and you're watching them flail yeah said okay good luck I know you clearly know what you're doing you guys are really a supportive group of comedians I feel like not everybody is like as tight-knit as you are yeah with each other and you're super supportive and I think that that's why you get National gigs that's why you get people that will pop in and do a show like you're GNA have tomorrow yeah it's it's a lot of people that I've met through Fe Through The Years through festivals or just doing a a random show in the midwest uh what is Middle America like it's it's fascinating it is fascinating there is a queer section of every major town yeah and and it's great Columbus Ohio the most amount of gay clubs I've ever seen in one seriously yep seriously and that it has one of the last two lesbian bars like in the country is in Columbus Ohio really that doesn't sound right why not Josh one of the last lesbian bars yes there's not more lesbian bars opening up no well there was one there was one that fairly recently opened up that was a lesbian sports bar and that's something that hasn't been happening so that was like made the news this week or last week it's all women that look like me that's rude they have far less hair than you I'm being nice oh my gosh that well I did not know that I I've got our friend Dan Chase who sometimes pops on the live and he's middle American he moved from the cape to Middle America with his girlfriend and they do a horror podcast but I always ask him what like what's going on in Middle America I know nothing about it tell me more I took the train through it but I've never really spent any time in it I went to Chicago for 48 hours like that's the most middle Midwest I've been that's not real Midwest it's just a little bit more west midwest I was in Pittsburgh I just like no that's not Midwest no it's gon to be like corn Middle America like right in the middle I mean I've driven through right like what is there in there to stop at I'm just curious if anybody's out there in there you got you got to perform in Iowa in a corn field where they filmed Field of Dreams and then you could say that you really that was probably the highlight of the Oscars was John malali sober John M malany John meany sober sober Name by the way right yeah John Mal I'm John Mal John Mady fully sober before he is given the nominations doing drugs yeah he gave the entire plot of Field of Dreams before he gave out the award and it was hysterical it brought down the house it was very very funny like when he does the whole ending scene of uh The Fugitive yes it was very it was very similar to this but it was the plot of Field of Dreams and I really enjoyed it go watch it find it I'm sure it's in a clipse somewhere probably the highlight of me it wasn't John Cena's envelope it was it was this so Field of Dreams is the best dad movie that has ever existed all right thank you was one of my dad's favorite movies when I was kid uh the the only the the only time I watched baseball within the past like two three years is when Kevin Cosner was promoting the Field of Dreams game between the uh between the white socks and the Yankees and all the players were coming out of a corn field and just playing Bas baseball like on a cornfeld he's lost his mind right that's why we no longer have whatever show he was on I love love love Kevin cner I thought Yellowstone was a great show it was so good but he doesn't want to do it anymore y Yellowstone is like the empire for white people I don't know if that is that he doesn't want to do it anymore or he was inappropriate with the staff member after wasn't he didn't he sign on to do he has something else coming out right there was some situation where he was inappropriate he broke a morality Clause got divorced that whole thing they basically said you can't be on the show anymore morality Clause right like him getting divorced is a morality no he was like hanging out with a TA like there was something inappropriate on set oh there was a scandal oh he was going touchy touchy yes too much time with the taas in there yes there are some situations that happened on set and that's what the dustep thing was and then end oh you said ta I thought you said t no Kevin wrong wrong don't don't don't do it and I know and I'm like damn it I really liked him and that show why is everybody gonna ruin it with touchy touchy your hands to yourself Kevin spy all over God oh that's a whole another level don't have time for that first of all he was acquitted so that means not guilty right yeah but it's still you know we still got screwed out of better seasons of [ __ ] oh so ruined I know so ruined I still watch a I still watch House of Cards and I only think about the thing maybe like half the time I watch it guys we are living house of cards right now anyway plug your shows one more got get out of here this is why we can't have nice things is right eron and Dorian said Indiana is green but mostly racist so maybe that's why said Indian is green but not racist that that that's what Dorian said but racist definitely racist it's basically the but racist it's the same they just call soda pop
